My son`s soft spot seems to be closing up early! he is 6 months. i goggled it and it said it could be a sign of a problem or it could put some unwanted pressure on his brain..Most of the time, it means that it is still present but is difficult to feel because a tough, fibrous cartilage membrane develops over the soft spot as it is closing. This membrane can make it difficult to determine if the soft spot is still open.
However, if the soft spot does indeed close early, it could be a condition called craniosynostosis, which can cause some problems. My Q is when did your childs soft spot close and have yall heard of it closing as early as 6 months? I was wondering if anybody has heard of this? Gone thru this?

My daughter's soft spot was completely closed up by the time she was 4 months. At her six month check-up, I mentioned it to the doctor and she said that was ok. If you're really that concerned about it, I would call and talk to his doctor. But my doctor said it was fine. Not every baby does things by the book.

My daughter is 7 months and her soft spot is also closing, but not yet all the way closed. The doctor told me this is totally normal, that the soft spot can take up to 18 months to close totally, or as early as 9 months to a year. If you have any concerns you should ask your doctor.

That's not a bad thing, that's actually a very good thing. When your first born, your skull is in different sections called plates, and as you grow, they grow closer together. Those "soft spots" on baby's skulls are where the skull has not yet moved to. As you get older your sull grows and becomes closer together. So your son's skull is begining to grow and join to the other skull peices, kind of like a puzzle. They are now helping protect your son's brain...in other words, your son is just developing faster than what normal baby's do.

Do see the pediatrician about it.
My baby´s soft spot closed later than it should have
and I was also very concerned about it so I had an x-ray of her skull taken to her pediatrican for evaluation....
This is not a yahoo questions matter, you must be serious about your newborn´s health so after you finish reading everyone´s suggestions, see the dr.

I would not be asking people on the web I would be going to the doctor, don't mess around with what could be a problem to your child. My kids closed early but if you have doubt go to the doctor.

If you are concerned about this, call your pediatrician. Answers is not a great place to turn for medical advice, and no one is as qualified as your doctor to determine the significance of a child's health care issue.

Good Luck.

I would set an appointment to take him to the doc to make sure everything is ok. You may also need to schedule to see a neurosurgeon if your doc thinks it needs checked out.
