There are so many good websites that it is impossible to single out any one which is so superior that I could call is my favorite. However, I can single out the best website in my local area, the public library. I am assuming that most public libraries now have Internet access and they offer help to library patrons. That's why I always refer people to their local library when they ask questions about the Internet. That way each person can find their own favorite website which can be anything from Yahoo to Google to HotBot to Lycos to AltaVista.

Hard to pick just one favorite. Here are just a few:

For search engine:
http://www.goodsearch.com
because you can designate a charity/organization from their list to receive about a penny for each legitimate search performed. May not sound like much, but multiply searches times hundreds or thousands of people…

For weather:
http://home.accuweather.com/
because I can get information about my city (or another) from the last 24 hours or the upcoming hours. Temp, real feel, humidity, etc.

For games:
http://games.yahoo.com/games/front
no reason in particular.

For computer related information, questions/answers, new technology, ‘interesting’ websites, etc.
http://www.askbobrankin.com
http://www.internettourbus.com/

For free software to work with pictures,
http://www.xnview.com
because it's free and pretty darn easy to use. Doesn't install anything such as popups, malware, etc. Okay, it doesn't do everything, but it's free and can meet a number of needs.
