You should let your friend know how you feel. Ask her to dinner or a movie or whatever you usually do when you go out as friends. It doesn't need to be a date. Tell her the truth about how you feel and give her the opportunity to respond. She may not have a response right away.

im bisexual myself.
relax.
personally speaking, even though i am, i cant seriously be attracted to another female...but here goes.
1- if you're seriously best friends as you say, then the following should have least impact on either of you.
a-you telling her the truth
b-her rejecting you.
if she accepts, good for you, but if things dont work out in the long run, then it will be tough when that time arrives, but if you're true friends, you can make it a "love" relationship and put ur friendship to the test.
let me relate a very sad big mistake i made once.being a bisexual and all, i'm always sprung, finally got the balls to admit it to my best friend, and she was frankly distraught, but got over it.after that she'd tease me to no ends, flirt, touch,..you name it, one night she slept over, and she did worse then just tease, she's never been in a relationship, and asked what it felt like to be kissed and fondled, and being the best friend i was, i related all the experiences i've had, female and male alike..and ...well things started getting out of hand..and we...went far, but nothing serious.
end result.
we didnt speak right for the next few months..i was always nervous that i'd done something wrong by making her feel good, and she was convinced she sinned, it was hard to get by that, but we did, and things are as swell as ever.
secret was, good communication.
if i could make it with my bestfriend who wwas perfectly straight, then you can make it with your bisexual best friend.
take a chance.
you never know what you might miss.
dont despair.
good luck

hey, well all I say is that the worst thing she can say is no.. Just let her know that you have feelings for her. Me, I am kinda shy, so what I would do is, when she isnt seeing anyone. I would ask her to come over, maybe do something nice like cook dinner, and then watch a movie... things kinda just happen when you get put into those situations. While you two are watching the movie get close, cuddle, what ever, and hey it might start with a kiss..... then before you know it, its out there.... Maybe you could even ask her what she thought about you, had she ever had feeling for you, would she ever consider dating you..... start the conversation, see what she says... good luck with this!!!

My best friend fell for me in high school, they made it very odvious and was very open about it, they knew that i was with someone and they still were there telling me how much they wanted to be with me. I have to say that it made me slightly uncomfortable. At times I felt almost like i was cheating on the person I was with, nothing ever happened between us , but still, it was an emotional thing.I wish they had kept there feelings to themselves, so that we could have kept our friendship as close as it was.
You have to think, if you two ended up together and things fell apart, your friendship may not survive. Is your friendship something you want to loose? I would think that it would be better to have the person in your life, even as a friend than to loose them forever in a breakup.

Your best off just to stay friends, it will never work out. Sure you could love your best friend, but nothing else.
Pray that something special could happen to the both of yous.

well you should wait and see if they break up, just like a boy-girl relationship the principles are the same. you can;t just barge in. besides if her relationships usually only last a few months then it shouldnt be too long

This almost never works out (ever). stay friends with her and let her make the first move. If you say or do something you will lose her friendship forever.
Sorry to be so blunt but, believe me, I know.
