If you have just planted this outside I would water it once a week unless it's going to be over 85 degrees and the ground is dry....then I would water it more often. Stick your finger into the growing medium and see if it's wet or dry.

generally no more than once a week... depends on where you live.
Newer trees and plants need more water than older ones.
Are there evergreens in the natural areas near your house?
Do they need to be watered or does nature take care of them?

if it is outside, that dsepends on where you live, in Washington state, after the plant is established no watering is necessary, in more arid climates, i would assume that watering would be a necessity.
