Hi. I have a formal coming up soon. My date is wearing an all white dress. Should I wear a black suit with white vest, tie, and hankerchief? I usually don't ask for fashion advice but I'm clueless on formal wear lol. Thanks in advance.

For a tux, yes - that is classic, cute and it never goes out of style.. and will look good with her all white dress too!

I would go with a windsor tie instead of the bow tie, and no tails =p

The outfit you describe is OK (except that you don't need the hankerchief). But only if the formal event you're talking about is NOT a wedding ceremony, you don't want to be mistaken for the groom, do you?
If you want it to look a bit less strict, go for a charcoal grey suit and for a vest that is beige or light grey. The tie is usually the man's clothing item in which originality is not altogether unwelcomed. As long as the main color of the tie complements the rest of the outfit, you can go for a bold colored pattern.

navy blue is a good colour for a suit very classy with a white shirt no tie
