okay this is pissing me off i think i get it and then its wrong, its so frustrating HELP!

1.Simplify 8x-8y / 8x+ 8y and select the answer with the appropriate restrictions for the variables.

i thought that it would be x-y/x+y but what are the restrictions?

2. Simplify 4p^2 -8p / 4p^3 and select the answer with the appropriate restrictions for the variables.
a. p+2 / p^2 (p= 0)
b. p-2 / p^2 (p= 0)
c. p-2 / -p^2 (p= 0)
d. -p-2 / p^2 (p= 0)

3.Simplify 4b^2 - 5b -6 / 8b^2 +6b and select the answer with the appropriate restrictions for the variables.
A. b-2/ 2b (b=0,b=-3/4)
B. -b+2/ 2b (b=0,b=-3/4)
C. b-2 / -2b (b=0)
D. b-2 / 2b (b=-3/4)

4. Solve for x in the equation ax + bx = a2 + 2ab + b2 and select the answer with the appropriate restrictions for the variables.
a. x= a-b (a=-b)
b. x= a+b (a=-b)
c. x= a+b, no restricitions
d. x= a-b, no restrictions

1) (8x - 8y) /(8x + 8y) = (x - y)/(x + y)

x + y not = 0

2) (4p^2 - 8p) /(4p^3) = [4p(p - 2)]/(4p^3) = (p - 2)/p^2

p not = 0

3) (4b^2 - 5b -6) / (8b^2 + 6b)
[(4b + 3)(b - 2)]/[2b(4b + 3)]
(b - 2)/2b

b not = 0

4) ax + bx = a^2 + 2ab + b^2
x(a + b) = (a + b)(a + b)
x = a + b

no restrictions

the restriction is that you can not divide by so
1) the restriction is x+y not zero.

BTW I have a problem with the proposed solutions
for instance
3) C. b-2 / -2b (b=0) is probably correct BUT b=0 is not a restriction b not zero is the restriction NOT b=0

For all of these, the restriction would be that the denominator of the equation cannot equal zero, since division by zero isn't valid.

For 1), your restriction is that x cannot equal -y.

Yeah it used to while i become nonetheless doing it in college or for homework, yet those days it quite is in basic terms a average annoyance as i generally have a bigger information of it now than i did interior the previous. It actual wasn't my superior subject in college. i become greater of the inventive form i enjoyed drawing and doodling, additionally did no longer strategies portray and making sculptures. i've got constantly hated algebra and that i'll in all danger constantly will. in basic terms circulate away me with the numbers and sequences and that i'll be superb.
