I am in the process of suing somebody for a lot of money owed to me and have started getting hate sms's from somebody they know. Telling me how I am disliked and how dumb I am etc. Which I am not. The court case is a business I sold to this couple, and they absconded before making final payment, plus took a lot of fixed assets with them. They then went into hiding, but we found them, and they have been served with a summons. I received 8 of these messages today. Should I just hand it over to my lawyer, and what can be done to them. Its making me very nervous.

Give them to your lawyer, and he will advise you. Perhaps he can draw up a letter to warn them of pending harassement charges. Don't back down - they're obviously trying to intimidate you. Good Luck!

DO NOT RESPOND TO HATE MAIL.

Save the messages if you can and consult your lawyer ASAP - but NEVER respond - it could get you in trouble for harrassment, but it also spurns on the sender and encourages them to send more.

Let your attorney handle it. You could jeopardize your settlement if you act on these messages. They could be trying to trick you into a situation where you do something stupid.

Inform your attorney about it. Your attorney may see a just cause to sue them too.

If it makes you nervous stop reading them when you realize what it is, and yes, turn it over to your attorney.
