Let's clear some things up before we start on the best answer to this question.
1. Creatine is not dangerous for the average person moreso than alcohol or caffine.
2. The primary role in creatine is recovery and energy to assist you in your workout, the water retention making your muscles bigger is secondary.
3. Even if it does strain the liver, it is the most resilient organ you have that can recover from almost any type of damage done.

With that out of the way you want a creatine that is easily absorbed, and doesn't bloat you up from water retention below the skin (in the muscles is different).
Creatine Ethyl-Ester, and Kre-Alkalyn are probably your two best choices. Neither of these require a loading phase and neither convert to Creatinine (might be mispelled, I don't have time to look it up) which is the main problem with your average Creatine today.

Creatine monohydrate is crap, absolute crap. The majority of what you take breaks down into creatinine before it can reach your muscles. You body trys to deal with this toxin by diluting it with water, so you'll be very thirsty and you will look bloated and undefined. The only way to avoid this is to take it with about 60 grams of dextrose (glucose), and then that will get in the way of definition. Most creatines you see now are either PH buffered to prevent breakdown, or bonded into a compount for the same result. Kre-Alkalyn from Sci Fit is a personal favorite, very convienient pills and I've had some good results from it. But any of the others work just fine, look for any supplement with creatine ethyl ester creatine malate. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and a liver support (usually for steroid use) wouldn't hurt.

The best one is creatine monohydrate from Weider products range. Recently they have combined it with NO compounds and this has increased its efficiency- this latter is 'Pump Tech' by Muscletech.

The main side effect of creatine is that it encourages water retention even under the skin and you tend to cover the six pack.

The other side effect is quite rare. When the muscle power has increased the respective tendons have not yet.... in this case a tendon tear is not uncommon.

Best Wishes.

you want 100% creatine monohydrate. none of the crap thats mixed with isotonic fruit drinks or whatever.

i never noticed any side affects. but i also never got massive benefits from it. my muscles did retain more water and look fuller but that was about it. for some people it really helps and others it does nothing.

best thing is to give it a go. got for a decent brand like met-rx

you need to remember to cycle it though, say 6 weeks taking it, 2 weeks off.

Maxi-muscle. But you need to give your body a rest after say 6 weeks use, for a week. It is effectively storing oxgen and helping your muscle recover quickly. Too much creatine can destroy your kidneys.

It destroys the liver. I dont suggest you take it if you have a bad liver. I wouldnt even take it even if I had good liver. Because a good liver can become a bad liver. It has resulted in many deaths, so you should steer clear of creatine.

It's rumoured to play with the liver and kidneys. I know of two guys who use it and they make a point of not drinking booze or caffiene because of it. I used it briefly, didn't see much improvement, and would rather be able to have a beer without worrying when I fancied one.
