I am 9 weeks pregnant and figuring out how much money I need to put aside for hospital bills.

My husband has Bluecross and all my doctor visits will be paid for by a French organization that he is a member of. All we need to pay for is 25% of my hospital bills (doctor costs to deliver baby, hospital stay, etc.).

My friend had a c-section and stayed in the hospital for 5 days, her bills were $27,000.

What was the total of your hospital bills from giving birth?

Should I expect to pay around 25% of $15,000 (vaginal birth) to $25,000 (c-section birth)?

this question might want to be more effective useful responded by way of the well being facility the position the delivery and circumsicion will be taking position. i comprehend my OB is charging 3100.00, it really is all my prenatal visits, the cesarean delivery. My section after my ins will be somewhat over 900.00. you are able to call the well being facility and ask for his or her monetary amenities branch. they could have the capacity to grant you a breakdown. you would possibly want to ask in the experience that they could fax you an estimate that way think ofyou've got some thing on paper and may no longer have too many more effective expenses even as it truly is all stated and carried out. My medical doctors place of work requested if i needed circumsicion if it really is a boy, I stated sure, so i anticipate that the fee for that could be protected besides. similar with having my tubes tied afterwards. Your OB may even comprehend what the well being facility often expenses. Labwork/ultrasounds are literally not protected an excellent type of the time and those are often billed by way of the Lab or the Ultrasound facility. good success!!

I had Blue Care Network and my co-pay ended up being almost $1000.00. That was for a vaginal birth, 3 nights in the hospital, with an epidural. This was almost 18 months ago.

Good luck!

P.S. Smart thinking to plan for the bill...I never even thought about it...until the bill came a month later...that was painful!

I had what insurance calls a 'normal' birth. Vaginal birth. I was in the hospital for 3 days and in labor for almost 24 hours. The bill was about $500

It depends on where you live. You need to talk to the hospital you plan to go to and find out what the price range is. Make sure to request a ITEMIZED bill when they send one, do not pay until you have it. Where my sister went they tried to charge her 420 for a bag of pads, $8 for a box of kleenex (that she never used), $5 per roll of toilet paper (they said she used 1/day), and a bunch of other stuff she never saw or knew what it was. The stuff she didn't know what was ended up being fancy names for things like tape and little stuff like that. Her bill went from $8,000 to $3,500. The hospital ended up paying for it all because of the way she was treated when she went into labor and delivery. Do not be afraid to complain! It could help you in the long run if you have good reason. Congrats, and good luck!

Those figures sound just right to me and don't forget to add on the cost of the baby's needs in the hospital--the average healthy baby racks up about $3000 in hospital bills for a 2-3 day stay.

I was in the hospital for 3 days with a normal vaginal delivery. Between my room and board, the doctors charges, the anesthesia, and the nursery charges the bill was right around $17000. I paid approximately $1500.00 of this.

My daughter was also kept overnight when she was 4 days old for jaundice which was another $2000.00, but we had met the deductible and didn't have to pay anything for that.

Well, I had insurance (blue cross blue shield). It covered 80% .I also signed up for medicaid as a supplemental. I was induced, but ended up having a c/section. I spent 3 days in the hospital. I only got one bill for $125. That was the only bill I received as far as having my son delivered and hospital stay.

My wife's natural vaginal birth (no epidural) came to around $6000 (2 day hospital stay). Remember that your baby will also start getting bills to. My son's total cost was $4000, but he had some extra tests that aren't standard.

I had a c-section at John Hopkins, stayed 4 days and my bill was $13k. I think your figures are too high.

My vaginal birth was about $4k with a 2-day stay.
