They live mostly in subtropical or temperate climates with low rainfall. Scorpions *may* be found in many other habitats in the United States, including desert flats, sand dunes, desert and mountains, grasslands, forests, and chaparral.

Impossible to answer without having actually lived, or spent time, in both places; however, Canada seems like a great place, as is the USA in lots of ways. Down here where I live, we're still arguing about whether it's better to live in East Tennessee (enlightened people, industry, and great college football fans) or the other part of Tennessee, which, in many ways is like stepping back a couple of centuries in time. Just depends on what you want and what you're comfortable with as a place of residence. If I'm not mistaken, Canada and East Tennessee are a lot alike - lots of undisturbed Natural Treasures, trees, lakes and bears. Also neither Canada nor East Tennessee has ever invaded a country with false accusations of possession of weapons of mass destruction. I like 'em both!

Jerry P seems to have it right. There are at least
3 or 4 kinds of scorpions in Florida, one of them
extends up the Appalachians at least to North
Carolina and probably further. One of the Florida
species occurs also in Alabama. A different
species extends up the Mississippi Valley to
southern Illinois. For some reason, many of
the scorpion species occur further north to the
west of the Mississippi than they do east of it.
One species extends all the way to Canada, in
British Columbia.

There is no real way to answer this question obectively, because it really is what is considered BETTER for each person. Here are a few examples. Healthcare Canada has a more affordable healthcare system that is accesible by everyone. You will never have to pay crazy hospital fees as long as you have your provincial health care card. However, I believe that while we do have excellent doctors, there are better specialists in the USA. Places like the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Duke, and UCLA Medical are recognized around the world as having some of the finest doctors and as an excellent teaching shcool. Canada does have a few teaching hospitals known for their expertise in certain areas (McGill for example) but overall I think there are more in USA. Weather If you don't like the cold or don't like the heat, in USA you pretty much have plenty of choices, from coastal New England, sunny Florida or California, and warm dry Texas or New Mexico. In Canada, we have the four seasons in most areas, but if you want away from the cold in winter, your only option is southern BC. Animals & Insects In Canada, it is very hard to find any deadly bugs or animals. Yes we have bears (brown, black, grizzly, polar) but encounters with them are extremely rare. Some animals could become dangerous to humans in the wild or if hungry (wolves, coyotes, lynx). About the worst that happens in Canada is you go to put out your garbage, get bit by a few mosquitoes and get sprayed by a skunk. In USA, you have black widow spiders, scorpions, rattlesnakes, copperheads, fire ants, killer bees...you name it there are some dangerous things in small packages. Economy Canada weathered the storm better than USA in the last financial downturn. Our banks are required by law to guarantee the funds people put into the bank up to a certain amount. They aren't allowed to invest heavily in hedge funds and such. So while we were hurt, our economy has not stalled or collapsed. On the other hand, with all the buying power of 300 million Americans vs 30 million Canadians, we see prices tend to be much lower in the States, and they have a much bigger variety than here in Canada. Safety To this day, there are communities that have no concerns about sleeping with their doors unlocked and windows open in Canada, even in some major cities. Crime, especially violent crime, tends to be lower in Canada than in USA. There are many pros and cons like this. You just have to pick out which ones are important to you when making a decision on what you like better, not what I like better.
