Let me tell you truth about Masturbation, read it.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Masturbation — touching one's own sex organs for pleasure — is not bad for you. Got that? I'm not just saying that you shouldn't feel guilty about it because it is normal. I'm saying that it offers a number of health benefits. You've probably heard all sorts of myths about masturbation. For instance, masturbating will cause you to go blind, go insane, or grow hair on your palms. Maybe you've heard other falsehoods such as the only people who masturbate are those who are desperate for sex or can't "get any," sex with a partner.

Not a single one of those notions is true. Do you want to know why? Simple math answers this question. Most people masturbate. And if the myths were true, it would mean that most people are insane, blind, hairy-palmed, and desperate!

I'll say it again. Most people masturbate. It doesn't matter who people are, what they do, or what they say, chances are they masturbate. In fact, many people masturbate throughout their lives regardless of whether they have a sexual partner or not. People may masturbate alone or with a partner. Watching a partner masturbate can be a good way to see how she or he likes to be touched.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of guilt and shame surrounding masturbation. Self-pleasuring has had a bad reputation for centuries. Thankfully, medical authorities have given up on the idea that masturbation causes illness or insanity. In fact, most experts agree that children should be taught that there is nothing wrong with touching their genitals as long as it is done in private.

I masturbate every day — is that too much?

There isn't any set amount of time per day, week, or month that would constitute as masturbating too much. Some people masturbate a few times every day while others do it twice a month. Some people don't masturbate at all. Every person is different. Masturbating can become a problem only if it starts to interfere with the rest of a person's life. For example, if a person starts skipping out of school so she or he can stay home and masturbate, then masturbating may be disrupting other parts of her or his life. Otherwise, relax — there is no need to worry about masturbating "too much."

Why do people masturbate?

The number one reason why people masturbate is because it feels good. Period.

So, what health benefits does masturbation offer?

Masturbation can:

help reduce stress
release sexual tension
alleviate menstrual cramps
work wonders when a person is having trouble falling asleep
stimulate the immune system to help build up resistance to infections like the common cold
release mood-elevating hormones that help ward off depression
reduce embarrassing spontaneous erections for teen guys
reduce the number of unwanted wet dreams
And — this is a great thing — masturbation, unlike most other forms of sexplay, has no risk of pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection.

Masturbation also helps people be in control of their own sexual needs. By exploring our own bodies visually and by touch, we can learn more about ourselves and what feels good to us sexually. If we don't know what makes us feel good, how can we communicate to a partner what makes us feel good? In fact, it is likely that most people learn to have their first orgasms through masturbating.

So remember, the truth is that masturbating is an important way in which people can feel better and take care of their sexual health.

Ok there is no simple answer to this question. However I'll give you the cliff notes version. I've went to a Catholic school since 4th grade but I'm not even Catholic. However in my high school Morality class we learned the Bible teaches that the act of masturbation at first incident is considered a venial (forgettable) sin. But after the first time it's not sinful due to the repetitiveness and addicting nature. Basically it's considered unvoluntary after you become addicted to masturbation. I can't give you a specific Bible verse but remember that very well because all the guys had questions about it for the priest who taught the class. If you want to know more and be able to find more information about morality as it relates to Christianity or even Catholicism read "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis.

Is Masturbation Normal?
While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life.
Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.
Is Masturbation Harmful?
In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior. Some cultures and religions oppose the use of masturbation or even label it as sinful. This can lead to guilt or shame about the behavior.
Some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy.

Absoutely NOT! It's as healthy and normal a function as sneezing, coughing, urinating or any other natural bodily function. Thre's no reason why God would not want you to experience pleasure. Do you scratch yourself when you have an itch? Same concept. Go for it. It's actually better than not doing it, because if you're not sexually active, your body needs a way to get "out with the old and in with the new" sperm.
Sin and shame related to sexual function is an invention of the Church, not of God. he gave us bodies, and to obey our nature is the will of God.

In order for something to be a sin it has to be mentioned as something you should not do in the religiours text of your belief. If you are christian or jewish you will be pleased to know that masturbation is not mentioned in either the old or new testament. There fore it is not a sin

Masturbating isn't sinful, the problem is if you make it the main thing in you life or do it so much you body can't handle it. Think of it as gluttony but itset of food with sex.

this is a really good question and to answer it, yes. I say yes because if you think about it, while trying to jack off, you have to think about sexual things and you know that the good book talks about sinning for lust in your mind!!!

From www.christopherwest.com:

We ain’t nothin’ but animals, so let’s do it like they do it on the Discovery Channel – so go the lyrics of a song by a band called "The Blood Hound Gang." The band’s name carries the same theme – we’re animals with an urge to merge, so let’s go for it whenever the urge presents itself. The idea is almost laughable, but for the fact that large swaths of humanity accept it as modern common sense.
Songs like this, backed by the media and even mental health professionals have fostered the notion that sexual restraint is inherently bad for us – and many of us have believed them. But does this make sense? We encourage self-restraint all the time: don’t hit your sister, share your toys, don’t eat the whole cheese cake.
These, and a great multitude of other restraints, are considered normal and healthy. But why do people cry "pathology" as soon as someone suggests restraint for the sexual appetite?
It’s certainly true that a puritanical and repressive approach to the sex drive is not healthy. No one (I hope) wants to return to the days of deafening silence about sex when the sight of a woman’s ankle could cause scandal. But is unrestrained libido the answer?
Our society has come to champion sexual indulgence as a right. And we wonder why molestation, rape, abortions, "fatherless" children, adultery, divorce, pornography, and STD’s are rampant. Could it be because human beings, both men and women, are behaving like animals?
When push comes to shove, do some people really believe "we ain’t nothin’ but animals"? If a woman says of her date, "He was an animal," we know immediately what she means: he did not respect her as a person; he treated her as an object to satisfy his own instincts. If we "ain’t nothin’ but animals," where’s the problem?
Take this behavior to its extreme. Suppose a man forcibly indulges his "animal instincts" with a woman. What makes this a crime? Blood hounds can’t be charged and prosecuted for sexual misconduct. The very words "crime" and "misconduct" indicate a moral order, a meaningless concept for animals. And this is precisely the point.
So often behind the modern push to equate human beings with animals lies the subtle or not-so-subtle agenda of moral relativism, the rejection of a moral order to which all are accountable. And so often behind the agenda of moral relativism lies the desire to indulge libido without any restraint – that is, the desire to behave like animals when it comes to sex.
A world that teaches "chickens are people too" is inevitably a sexually confused world. When we raise animals to the level of human persons, we’re not really dignifying animals, we’re debasing ourselves. And one of the first human mysteries to be debased in the animals-are-persons and persons-are-animals world-view, as the above song points out, is sexuality.
Although biologically similar, the joining of man and woman in "one flesh" is worlds apart from the copulation of Fido and Fidette – at least its meant to be! Fido and Fidette are merely following an instinct intended to continue their species. Man and
woman are meant to be loving one another in the image of a life-giving God, something impossible for a being ruled by instinct.
Because of the effects of original sin, we often experience our sex drives acting upon us as if we were animals. But if we are ever to find happiness, we must, with the help of divine grace, raise our behavior above – far above – what the musk oxes and jack assess are doing on the Discovery Channel.

Me:
While the Bible does not mention masterbation by name (did the word even exist then?), it certainly does mention lust as a sin TIME and TIME and TIME again. Jesus told us it was a sin of adultry to lust after another person. Masterbation REQUIRES lust. Masterbation INCREASES lust. Masterbation is the physical act of the internal lust in the actor. I think its easily covered in the Bible. If it wasn't a sin, why would we be so disgusted with the thought of Christ doing it? Why would we be so ashamed of doing it ourselves. Certainly society tells us that it is "normal" or even "expected." This shame is the Holy Spirit speaking to us in our conscience. God doesn't want to weigh you down with law, He wants to free you from the Law with Love. When you turn over your life to God (and all of it--including your sex life), He will bless you tremendously. You will become so that the thought of sinning by masterbation (or by adultry...etc) have become so repugnant to you that you'd rather be crucified. This process takes time. You will fall more than once on your path to union with God. But even Jesus fell more than once (3 times) on the road to Calvery and you can do all things in God who gives you strength! That's not good news, that's AWESOME news!
Thanks for reading and God bless!
