Not sure about your part of the country, but here in Texas as long as the body ends up in your house you won't be charged. Side note: If you shoot a burglar it is alway better to shoot to kill so they can't sue you.

In pretty much any state the use of lethal force is justified if you or someone elses life is in danger. A burglar armed with a knife is a good example of that. You do not need a knife just to steal stuff and you do not need to break in while someone is home. It is a pretty good bet that if your neighbor did not shoot him he would be the one on the floor instead of the burglar. Problems arise for homeowners who shoot someone in the back who is obviously fleeing but other than that, even if the intruder has no weapon, you do and he could take it from you and kill you. So, the shooting can still be justifiable. *

Not as long as you're in Fla. they can't. :>) Did they just make that law national? Wow...cool. Bet a lot of seniors in Detroit will pick up on that one. They are the ones who get hit the most. Many of them for the money they so foolishly leave in the house for convenience...BUT, some can't always get to the bank when needed and most do not carry credit card. Yeah..this is a good thing...I think...just so long as people don't take advantage of it...and you've got to know some will.

there is nothing more ridiculous then a burglar breaking in your home and when you perform harm to him, he sues you for abuse!

There have been instances where law suits were filed from burglers being injured in an attempt to rob someone. There was one where a guy broke into a house and tripped on a rug, fell and broke his leg and sued the lady who owned the house... he won. Can you believe that? But yes, technically you can be charged for murder if he dies, attempted murder or even assault. It is a crazy crazy worl we live in.

yes they will and in some state you will be charged. In some states you must retreat, you must back yourself into a corner before you can shoot, then you have the burden of truth. These are the liberal states. Then you have conservative states with the castle doctrine, which says you have a right to protect your home and property and if they come in shame on them. You really need to know which state you live in.
