It's all an illusion of safety. Every pilot should be armed, and it's a crime that they haven't. Some pilots don't want to carry guns? Fine, tell them to find a different job.

We have armoured car drivers carrying guns, and they didn't go to flight school. Pilots can and should be capable of defending their passengers.

NO! Do people not GET it? It's all a show. Look at the way they check all our hand luggage, and completely ignore our bags that go in the back of the plane! A "terrorist" could easily put something in their luggage and have it set off from the back halfway through the flight. How utterly ridiculous! And are you really 100% sure it was Muslim terrorists destroying the buildings in 9/11? What about the Pentagon, where no one showed live pictures of anything hitting it, only an explosion? How come the one camera around got destroyed by the FBI? Read about it somwhere. It's all a show. It makes me sick.

Aside from the occasional scorpion crawling out and biting my leg, I think it is somewhat safer but has a long way to go. For example, US Air Marshals are still only on a fraction of US and international flights, but their presence is blatantly obvious as they are forced to reveal themselves by walking around the metal detector so that their gun will not be detected, and showing a badge to the inspectors. This would make them an obvious first target for a terrorist. Also, around 80% of cargo is still not examined or xrayed for explosives.

Cargo is potentially a much deadlier threat than anything a passenger or terrorists can bring on board, and could bring down a plane easier and quicker than a group of terrorists.

A little safer, yes. Could we be safer? yes. Do things like knives get thru yes. But honestly, do you really think that a 9/11 hijack happen again? Anybody stuipd enough to try would be bum-rushed in about 2 seconds.

What does your article have to do with the price of tea in China? A scorpion getting on board is a matter of the critter slipping in during restocking of the plane. Its not a security issues. Give me a break.

safest?? not in any respect changed into the safest... , however it is going by the oceans... all of it depens the way you look at it.... everybody thinks of 9/11 because the first actual uncomplicated crash...?! Ever when you consider that i changed into youthful I heard of crashes everywhere..., yet they are nonetheless flying..., as human beings won't be able to stay without the planes anymore... the first actual I heard of changed into the crash of chum Holly,etc... i changed into very youthful... Then all of those in England, the crash on October thirty first Holloween complete moon after 10 minutes departure from New-York,the only in Newfoundland, the only in Dominican Republic basically after departure..., the only in France basically after departure, all of those in Nigeria the position guidelines are completely distinct, all of those deviated contained in the 70's and 80's for all distinct causes, the 9/11, and many unmarried flyers..., and if i'd say, many many better contained in the destiny... Planes are mechanical gadgets... and if taken the prorata of automobiles and planes, i might want to take the motor vehicle... If it catches hearth, i'm able to stop it and step out..., not a plane... the step is intense... yet i guess that's faster than with information from boat... besides the actual incontrovertible fact that I really have not in any respect hear of any terrorists sinking a deliver yet... Take the boat...

So far so good. It was scary the first time I flew after 9/11. There were members of the military with machine guns on their shoulders. I almost fainted when a group of Muslim looking people were getting on my plane too but the guns made me feel safer.

I just took a cross country flight, and after being asked to take off my shoes & coat, and only being allowed to carry 3oz. of shampoo in a zip lock bag that I have to take out of my carry on and present for inspection, we had better be safer.

The concession stands in the airport are certainly richer for all of this... :D

As for that scorpion, the plane I was on packed us in so tight, that I don't think it could have gotten under the seat much less up a pant leg. And part of my stop was DFW... scary.

I'll feel safe when they x-ray all the cargo and there's sleeping gas available to the flight crew. First sign of trouble, put everyone to sleep and land the plane.
