To correct a few things.

There is a proposal to reduce ghg between now and 2050, not in 2050. This is a substantial improvement over Dion's tenure as environemnt minister, when the best he could do was enlist Rick Mercer on the one tonne challenge. I am a little testy as global warming has hit me pretty hard, 30 cm of snow, minus 35 and 40 km winds. Now that is snowing out east, maybe we will hear less on this subject. As you know the world revolves around Toronto, and if it is warm and no snow there, it must be a worldwide problem, being as how it is the centre of the universe and all. Out west, we are having a "normal" winter. And Mr. Harper will not be PM if the people who support corruption bring back the Liberals. Let's see, oil for food, Gomery, CWB, Gagliano the list is endless. Use your head, on an American scale, Harper's conservatives are equivalent to Democrats in philosphy and policy. The Liberals are left of that and the NDP is so far out there it is ridiculous.

He's smart and clever and desperately wants to win a majority government. He's planning to co-opt the opposition's environmental plans now because he suddenly discovered Canadians feel it is a priority. He has said that by the time he is done Canada will be so changed that we won't recognize it.Is this what we really want? He has an unspoken agenda and won't allow our members of parliament speak up for their constituencies or answer questions from the media. He has rigid control of the people we 'hired' as MP's.I smell a whiff of dictatorship here--so no I don't like him.

I rather dislike his policies but not him personally I suppose. I dislike the way he dis-allows his elected members of parliament to speak on their own. I dislike that he controls his party like Saddam Controlled Iraq, or Augusto Pinochet did Chile.
He's also not that bright, for a conservative he's intelligent... but on the whole he still bases way too many of his opinions on religious beliefs as opposed to cold hard researched and proven scientific and historical facts.

Then again.. come next election.. we'll be run by a new Prime Minister (Stephane Dion).. so not sure it matters what I think of King Steve really.

I am not a big fan, he brought accountability to government by limiting our access to politicians and political proceedings.

He planned to fight climate change by canceling a number of environmental incentive programs, and proposed we take 50 years to reduce emissions.

He wasted time and energy revisiting Gay-Marriage which had been already decided democratically a year ago, and of course lost.

He refuses to compromise with a predominantly left leaning house of Commons.

When the pressure is on, he does take responsibility, he shuffles his cabinet or fires and MP.

Dion is looking really good right now, I think we need another strong leader from Quebec.

Other than the fact that he's referred to as "Bush light" in certain circles, I really don't know enough about the man to form an opinion.
