I was overviewing the research process & I came across a curious question-- What steps in a research process do other people, personally, find most valuable? What are the benefits of conducting research and analyzing sources? & How can a person fit in the process of researching in with their daily lives?

Wow ...that's a whole lot of information you need.

I won't be able to go into detail - however, research involves :

1. studying several topics to chose one on which you're interested - delimitation and scope

2. Framing the research question or hypothesis

3. Deciding & preparing the tools for data collection & data analysis

4. collecting information through primary & secondary sources - could involve methods like field observation, interview, questionnaire, experimentation etc.

5. classifying & tabulating information including coding information

6. Statistically analysing the quantitative data - if u realise flaws in the data, u may need to start gathering it again.

7. Drawing up interpretations of data

8. Proving or disproving your previously formed hypothesis

9. Drawing up a conclusion and giving suggestions

10. Prepare a research report

The tools or methods you decide depend on the availability of the resources , your topic of study, scope and requirements.

benifits vary according to personal priorities. People conduct research for various reasons:
1. for university projects/requirements
2. personal interest
3. out of a felt necessity to add to a body of knowledge / discover something new - Example - medical research
4. for money if they're paid to do it/working for a research institute
5. desire to learn the research process that can come in use at any stage of life...

The process of researching cannot be used on a daily basis but is quite useful when one can apply it to where one works. Example if you are working for an FMCG company tou can conduct a market research - you need to know the general process for this.
or
if you're a teacher you need to guide students

as a parent you can guide your children, train them to see things objectively etc....help them with school projects

the most important benifit one derives from research is how it modifie the personality of the researcher....it installs in the person, not just virtues of patience and hard work, but also a thirst for knowledge and a desire for self improvement....this most undoubtedly affects the way one thinks and the quality of life one leads thereafter.....
