I am 260 Lbs and when I look in the mirror it looks like I am wasting away. I want to be bigger. Is there a name for this kind of thinking?

Muscle dysmorphia (bigorexia) is the opposite of anorexia. They are both psychiatric disorders that have very little to do with actual eating, but with the need for control in one's life. Gluttony is absolutely NOT the answer - it is, in fact, nothing more than an uneducated insult. People with muscle dysmorphia believe their bodies need to be larger even when, by normal standards, they are fine. This is most common among men as it is most often attributed to the illusion that one doesn't have large enough muscles. Bigorexics most often wear baggy clothing and refuse to take their shirts off in public because of their (percieved) 'smaller size'.

It is a serious disorder that needs to be treated. The social, emotional, and physical damage it can cause may be irreparable without treatment. Muscle dysmorphia (a.k.a. 'reverse anorexia') is an unattainable quest for physical perfection in relation to happiness.

I wish you the best and hope these websites help some.

first of all if you are having these feelings you need to talk to someone about them, You may have body dysmorphic disorder, or imagined ugliness. this is as close as i could guess to a name for what you have, the opposite of anorexia would be compulsive overeating, however since you say you see yourself wasting away and you weigh 260 lbs it must be some type of dysmorphic disorder because you are not seeing what is real. Please get some help.

IF and i mean IF this is a real question the opposite of anorexia is obesity (Sp?) but the condition it appears you seem to be suffering from is Body dimorphic (Sp?) disorder. I highly doubt this is real but if it is please seek medical help before you hurt your body... oh and 260 may or may not be in the realm of healthy it depends on your height age and gender and if its all muscle or fat... etc

I don't know...but the opposite of anorexia is bulimia...thats where you eat and eat and eat, then throw it up. I don't know why you think you are wasting away. 260 lbs is far from a skeleton..(I don't mean that to sound rude.) but if you feel you are too thin. then maybe you should talk to a doctor and see what he thinks...perhaps he could help you figure out why you feel the way you do. I hope you feel better about yourself, because I think no one should feel bad about themselves. good luck and I hope this helps.

Things don't necessarily have to have opposites. What is the opposite of zero? Is it One? Then what is the opposite of 1? Negative 1, or 0?

Anorexia is a condition, so the opposite of the condition would be the lack of the condition. Maybe the opposite of anorexia is healthy.

Im not sure. mabey excessive cumpulsive eating disorder? ive really never heard it called anything else. I do know this much, usually eating disorders come from wanting to gain some controll in your life. you can controll what you eat and how much weight you take off, put on. sometimes over eaters use the food to fill a space inside of them where something in there life is missing. I used to be belimic then after my divorse from a very controlling man , I just got better.

Obesity. Or over eating. Your stomach grows and stretches so you may be starving all the time in order to fill that larger void. Talk to a doctor about diet suppresants.

Obesity. Seriously, it is just another body image disorder in the realm of anorexia.

Gluttony is really the opposite of Anorexia. But what you have described doesn't sound like anything I recognize. It feels like something you just made up to me, but I could be wrong. :)

No diagnostic name, for this. I would consult a therpist and a medical doctor to find out why you are feeling that you need to gain more weight. I feel that there is an underlying issue that is going on.
