The old saw, "taxes and death" are to be expected but there are some things people should be able to expect, like not being physically attacked. However, as an adult survivor of childhood abuse...I know first hand that it won't necessarily be true.
Why I expect it is because it fits my sense of morals. I was raised in a spiritually diverse family (Catholics converted to Protestantism, Jews converted to Southern Baptists, Lutherans converted to Buddhism...we have our own Rainbow Coalition of religions) but it seems that most modern people expect that their bodies and possessions will not be violated. Again, it doesn't mean that it won't happen but in modern society, we have laws that provide legal recourse for those who break laws.
That said, one can go back to the Brehon laws and see that society had in place rules for conduct from one person to the other -- regarding things we'd consider as offenses. So, I guess it's not such of a modern idea, either.

Just happiness! Oh, I know I'll get plenty else, and I already have, belief me.
But if I don't pay any attention to the "else", it will be like it doesn't exist at all. And if ya don't pay any attention, and it seems to not exist for you? Does it? At all?
Maybe not and if it does it doesn't matter!
So, I think and believe I deserve it, cause' I try to do the best I can, and be nice to people!
And maybe that is good enough. Also my believe in a higher power, and always trying to go up! Not down! Helps alot.
I know I need to take more action. I think I will get there.
In the meantime, I just take a deep breath! Ahhhh! And let go and let God, or a higher power take control.
Really that is in us, cause the higher power is within us! Also above, it's about not always making decisions from the mind, but also the heart!

One expects from life what one puts into it. Life is what you make it. It is totally an individual experience. If you are interested in learning more about life I would suggest an intensive reading of authors, who foster an individualist theme. William Blake, John Stuart Mill, Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, and my favorite Jacques Derrida. These individuals give control of life to the liver, which is how it should be in every venue. In Albert Camus' famous work THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS, one is entreated to the individualist doctrine on a very complex scale. MY favorite line in this book refers to truth, "Truth is a vernacular creation of of the creator." Meaning that there are differences among us that prevent any doctrine from claiming that all humans should and could be classified as universal creatures. I hope this helps!

I do not have any set expectations of life, except to live one day at a time.

I expect to get out of life only as much as I put into it because that's what I would deserve.

Well to be truthfull I really don't expect anything from life. I want to grow and have a family if that's what you mean, but I don't expect it agree with me, and I sure don't epxect any gifts from it. I has been generous enough to me and it's about time I tried to give some of that back, but that doesn't meanI can't grow up and enjoy what time I have left.

I expect life to be wonderful, interesting, full of surprises and experiences. Because, if you don't expect things from life, things just won't happen for you.
It works. Life has been great to me so far.

To live every day as a gift from God. To be humble and kind, to give more than you receive.
Anyone can "Talk the Talk", but will you "Walk the Walk"?
Character is defined as what you do when people aren't looking.
