No.
In books of this genre and the age they appeal to, relatively happy endings are best. If there is tragedy, it would need to be resolved to the betterment of the remaining characters. Thus a happy ending ...
...everafter.

I don't think Harry should die because well, seven books were named after him and we've been with him all the way. It would be evil to kill him off at the end.
It also doesn't make sense in the plot (someone here stated the opposite, I don't know, i can't see it...)
However, like other people said here, I don't want poor continuations of the story. But here's a solution- just don't read them.
P.s. Oh man, if Neville dies...
I really hope the plot won't end up like adam h says...

He should have died in the first book or better still never have been created, I cannot believe that such pedestrian wish-fulfillment ever became so popular- In short Harry is a 'Mary Sue' as is Hermione (yes I view Harry as being female) Harry is far too over-powered, with all of this destiny mumbo-jumbo and so it is impossible to imagine him not succeeding.
Every avid reader puts themself into the skin of one of the principal characters then calls it literature to justify their own escapist tendencies, it's the case with most of the fantasy genre and especially something like this aimed at children.
Will she kill the poncy wizard off? It will take a lot of courage and she will be foregoing a huge potential source of future income, but she is already the richest woman in Britain so what does she have to worry about?

I'm not a big Harry Potter fan but I do enjoy watching the movies and it's sad that he's going to die in the last book but if that's what the author wants then I don't see any prolbems with it. I guess I don't care one way or the other since he's not real.

I think JK Rowling would be mad NOT to kill off Harry. If she leaves the story open ended other authors will come along later and want to write some kind of continuation. They won't do it justice and the entire seven book tale will be ruined.
I'd like to think of a 'happy ever after...' but they all allow Harry's story to be picked up by someone else!
Maybe JKR will continue herself in a few years with the ongoing story of Hermionie and Ron ......

I actually think from a literary point of view, it would be the best possible ending, closing the whole story with nothing left hanging. And it's not a very happy series, why would you expect it to have a happy ending?
Although it would be the end of that series it would NOT mean no more books set in that world could ever be written, there's a whole fictional world full of other characters who also could be written about.

Yep - Would ensure the end of the stories.
I don't mean that in a bad Way. I mean in the sense that we will not have a poor sequel in a few years EG Adrian Mole - The stories worked with him as a kid, but were tired & boring with him as an adult. It will also stop other Authors getting their hands on him and
trying to put him in terrible stories - look at some of the more recent James Bond exploits.

I don't think he should die, but his powers will be exhausted in beating Voldemort, thus making Harry an ordinary boy. He will probably become a chemist as he has a wide knowledge of plants and potions etc.

In a way yes I do. But in wizard heaven you should be able to be reunited with other dead relatives and have an input into what happens in wizard world. That way the stories could continue to be written if the author so chooses.
