Some suburbans (3/4 ton and up) have 40 gallon tanks.(special order?) Look for CL (custom line) designation on body for a clue.

No. The older suburbans have a single 40 gal. tank and the newer ones have a single 32 gal. tank.

the older ones did i think. my 98 just has one big tank like 42 gallons.Dude it is not good at all to drive on E it's very very hard on the fuel pump they heat up and burn up the fuel keeps them cool and acts as a lubricant to the pump motor it has to stay submerged or not good. a fuel pump for my suburban costs 375 $ not cheap.
