Here's the way I see it. The only thing that the PS3 has going for it now and in the forseeable future is Metal Gear Solid 4. That's it.

Everything else, the 360 has or will have. GTA4 is coming out on the same day (October 2007) for both systems, as per Rockstar's announcement. Xbox has Halo, Gears, and other really good stuff. There is also lots of good stuff to come.

As for the graphical abilities of the PS3, let's just say they're less than I expected. The absolute best of the PS3 looks only a bit better than the best of the 360, and it COMES AT A PRICE: Frame rate. ALL of the games that I was impressed with had frame rate issues, even less objects on-screen. And for the most part, you will find better graphics on the 360 in general. If anything, they are graphically equal.

PS3 does have a free online service, where Xbox Live costs $7 per month, and ~$50 per year. You may find some games on the PS3 that will charge for their online service like WOW does on PC, though. Xbox games have no such fees.

Also, even the base model PS3 has a larger hard drive than the 360, although there are rumors of Microsoft coming out with an 80GB hard drive for the premium 360 and demoting the currently premium-bundled 20GB HDD with the base model.

The price is an issue with the PS3, and is the reason I didn't buy one. The premium model PS3 @ $600 is $200 more than the premium 360, and the 360's bundled hardware was better for the price (I got 2 wireless controllers, a set of chargers, a headset and a free month of Xbox Live).

Ultimately you need to decide for yourself. The main factor in my opinion should be the games. I don't believe that the Playstation 3 hardware is superior to the Xbox 360's, and the features that it offers aren't much better either. Good luck with whichever you get.

ok, i'm extensive hardcore Xbox360 fan. all the video games are super. yet that doesn't mean the PS3 is a foul gaming gadget. and you heard authentic, there are various issues for the 360. there are various gadget defects in video games (customarily EA). And very nearly each recreation can freeze no remember what, whether this is interior the appropriate situation. and everybody knows approximately "The crimson Ring of death." So i don't would desire to assert something approximately that. and that i don't understand if the Ps3 has as many or any comparable issues. yet, The 360 like I mentioned has many super video games. And the Ps3 has an fairly small determination of video games. and the diverse video games on Ps3 are not as stable simply by fact those on 360 (and thats not my opinion). So, in the adventure that your in simple terms searching for a super gaming gadget, get the 360. yet once you elect information superhighway, Blu-Ray, and unfastened on line play, with a small determination of video games get the Ps3.

Comparing the cross platform games like Call of Duty, Madden, etc. There are almost no difference. You probably wanna to consider an article that ArsTechnica posted about the "secret weapon" of 360 - The PS3 has no internal hardware scaler, which means games that are 720p native can only be shown in 720p or 480p; there is no scaling up to 1080p or 1080i. This causes people with older HDTVs to have issues with the available resolutions, and keeps them from playing the games in anything but 480p...the PS3 comes off worse when you look at both versions of a title like Call of Duty right next to one another.

Right now the 360 is much, much better. More games. Better games. And according to gamespot the only game that's on both systems and looks better on ps3 is Tiger Woods 07. Gears of War has the best graphics of any game to date, and that's a 360 game. PS3 might be worth it at the end of the year when Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out, and next year when Final Fantasy XIII comes out. But right now it kinda sucks. And that's not just fanboy talk. I own both systems. My PS3 has just sat there, lifeless, since I finished Resistance: Fall of Man.

I read about a games developer talking about the whole PS3 vs 360 debate and he said, from his point of view they were pretty similar. The PS3 having the larger graphics memory but the Xbox having a faster processing core. Or the other way round lol. Either way, from a proper game point of view they're pretty similar. It's all down to game choices I think.

games that are available on both platforms eg. call of duty, are made to run on both systems so they are effectively exactly the same game and you should only notice small differences if there are any, where as games that are specifically made for the one console eg. gears of war (xbox 360) and resistance fall of man (ps3) they are made solely to run on that console thats where you will see the difference as they are made just to run on that hardware, right now with these games dont show much difference in graphics, once games developers get used to the new hardware and learn to utilise this to the full you should see which one stands on top.

my cousin lives in the US and he has one. Dont buy one its a total waste of money!!! In this country its £425, come on. The tilt sensor is highly innacurate as well, but the graphics are good. p.s. online gaming on a PS3 is crap.
Do you have a 360 and XBOX LIVE cos if you do send me a friends request: Canine X.

It does have Blu-Ray, which is the new HD DVD system. I thnk Blu-Ray is likely to win over the other HD format, if only for the cooler sounding name.
Plus, I think the graphics are superior on the PS3. From what I've heard.
