I'm over 30 (waaaay over) and I love Japanese animation but rarely if ever find anyone even remotely close to my age that loves it as well.

35 years old here... I'm not a avid fan (like a couple of my friends who rent and buy anything and everything) but they know my tastes and if they come across something I'd like, they let me know.

My first anime (back before anyone really knew it was "anime" was the edited movies for Grandizer (UFO Robot Grandizer) and Starvengers (Getter Robo) that Showtime aired during the early 80s. Next was Battle of the Planets... Robotech... once they finally started bringing anime over on VHS, there you go.

My fav animes tend to be be at opposite ends of the spectrum. I love mecha and action/martial arts ones, but I also love the romantic comedies.

My favs that I own on dvd:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Tenchi Muyo (OVAs, Universe, and the movies)
Galaxy Police GPX
Photon
Robotech: Macross Saga
His and Her Circumstances
Dragon Half
The Guyver
Read or Die

Others I've liked:

Gatekeepers
Oh My Goddess
El Hazard
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Bubblegum Crisis 2040
Martian Successor Nadesico
Noir
GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka)

The majority of those who are actively into anime are in their 10's and 20's, those who are in their 30's and so on that are 'still active' usually started when they are in their 10's and 20's.

Then there are also fans/otaku who are like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons.

Remember that even the 'anime makers' who are over 30 usually aren't really into anime anymore, they sometimes no longer understand what is the fuss all about.

Always have, since I was a kid, way over 40 years ago. Think the first anime series I ever saw was Astro-Boy! Ancient history. Attended the Cleveland Institute of Art in the early seventies and was lucky enough to still be there later when they had a Japanimation film festival showing the first American screenings of "Akira" and "Laputa, Castle in the Sky". That was great!

I am way over 30 as well. Japanese anime is about the best. I started out watching Sailor Moon and was hooked! The film "Spirited Away" is my favorite!

I don't know if this qualifies as anime, but I love Myazaki films very much, especially Howl's moving castle, and Totoro. Other than any film by Myazaki, I don't care for anime. I'm 42 years old.
Spirited Away is by Myazaki also and I love that film too.

I'm 34 and I watch more than most people I know. Everybody my age wants to talk about football and such, but no one I know watches anime or has even a clue to what they're about.

I'm 48 as of January 3...

I was seven years old when introduced to Astro Boy, Gigantor, Tobor the Eighth man, Marine Boy and Kimba the White Lion.
Anime is in my blood. Disney never stood a chance...

I was reintroduced in 1992 to Iczer one, Violence Jack, Gunbuster, BAOH, Guyver, Mermaid Forest and Mermaid Scar, Goku Midnight Eye, Cyber city Oedo 808, Cobra, Wicked city, Demon city, Vampire Wars, Akira and Vampire hunter D.

I fell in love all over again...

Ijust finished Gantz...and am working my way through Ergo Proxy

I love all the Ghibli Studios stuff from Porco Rosso to Princess Mononoke...I love Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro...and I wept like a banshee after seeing Grave of the Fireflies...

I am fond of the Gonzo Studio stuff like Helsing, Vandread, Last Exile, Gatekeepers...
Gantz and Saikano I keep on my PC for easy access...

I like much of what anime has to offer and my tastes range all over the place...

Kakurenbo to Voices of a Distant Star....Windy Tales to Kite....
Sol Bianca to Silent Moebius....Neo Tokyo to Irresponsible Captain Tylor...Giant Robo to Vampire Princess Miyu.....Record of Lodoss War to Crying Freeman .....Monster toOnisama E...Kino's travels to Tree of Palme...Doomed Megalopolis to Noir...Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to
Devilman...and Wonderful Days to Empress Chung...

Animation moves me...stirs me deeply...emotions just below the surface ...and far deeper, are touched by the power of story...
it is my favorite medium...and i wouldnot have it any other way...

for those of you waaay over thirty and beyond...who thought yourself alone...welcome...the water's fine...stay awhile...

your brother,
forever entranced...

PS...there is an english animation I wouldlike to suggest you take a look at. The name is" The Plague Dogs"...and it is available through Netflix....be aware though...this viewing requires one box of kleenex...its that good. Like Grave of the Fireflies...this film is the film noir of animation. Enjoy.
