1. Why should we even have a national title game? Shouldn't the SEC champ just be crowned #1?

2. Why don't they schedule more than the very rare away non-conference game against other top 25 schools? Is it all about the money or padding records with mid-major or lower competitioon at wins home? If the SEC is "The Best" shouldn't beating anyone anywhere be easy?

Not too hard to get teams into the top 25 when they all start 3-0, 4-0 by beating on cupcakes. I suppose they all would be top 25 if they didn't have to play each other too wouldn't they. Not all the teams in the SEC or any conference are all superior every conference has pansies, yes even the SEC.

The problem with the SEC is their schedule. They rarely if ever play anyone outside of their conference and most of their games are at home. Most SEC teams have 7 home games and the non coference schedule is beyond easy.

The SEC didn't dominate in the bowls the last 3 years with a 15-13 record. this year they definitely were the best. Florida and Auburn had 2 real hard games all year, and for Auburn, both were at home.

Until there is a playoff, this stupid system is about money and we'll never know who's the best.

USC is better than Florida I think; Florida's offense was kind of a joke at times this year and they went' crazy against OSU.

It IS about the money to the "cupcake" schools! They sign to play these games with EVERYONE, not just SEC schools in an effort to make their budget for the year! Sure, it's an easy win most of the time, but don't say that the SEC is the ONLY conference who does such things, when Oklahoma plays MTSU and etc. The "best" is usually reserved for ANYONE who goes through the rigors of a college football season as unscathed as possible against the toughest schedule possible. Case in point; remember the hype Notre Dame had early this year? Everyone was so high on Quinn, Szmardjia, and etc. that they failed to realize the ND schedule had a couple more "cupcakes" on it than usual! Besides a bowl bound Navy team, they played a bad ARMY team, a mediocre Air Force team (that only lost by ONE to Tennessee IN KNOXVILLE!) and a couple other suspect teams. But when the tougher teams played them, they lost! It was the SEC'S year with a RECORD 9 teams in bowls, with FLORIDA winning the national championship, so GET OVER IT!

I like your first point in that it sounds like a great idea.
To answer your question about scheduling, the SEC year-in year-out have more teams ranked in the Top 20 than any other conference. The SEC is the black n' blue conference in the nation. The SEC prides itself on fast and hard-hitting defenses. The non-conference games are usually easy opponents to tune up for the conference schedule. It's tough enough to stay healthy just playing SEC teams.
And here's one to you since you know so much about conferences. Why doesn't the Big 10 and Pac 10 expand their conference to 12 teams. Ohio St did not have to play Wisconsin. Is that a joke? I think so. A few years back Oregon St was ranked high and USC did not have to play them. Talk about that crap among these great conferences.

You're right. Just have the SEC Champion be National Champ. Good Call!

Can you name ONE school that doesn't pad their schedule some? That's part of college football. If you played EVERY top team, you'd kill your team physically.

Look at Auburn. They only had 4 non-conference games, against Tulane, Buffalo, Arkansas State and Washington State. WSU nearly beat USC, so that means three easiER games followed by 7 conference games, 3 of which against teams rated at some point in the top 10, and Auburn only finished 9th overall. Name another team that did that without being a national champion.

If they are the "best" why did they finish 1-2 against Big 10 Schools. Yeah they won the one that counted but still they lost 2 other games. Also if they are the "best" why did they LOSE 3 Bowl games. Come on if the Big East that is supposedly terriable can go 5-0 why did the SEC only finish 6-3.

Hello just about everyone in our conference consistently IS IN the top 25. Alabama. Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee.

When you have the hard in conference schedule that SEC teams have you have to schedule easy out of conference teams. Let me spell it out for you. I happen to be an Alabama fan so I'll use our schedule as an example. Every year we have to play Tenn, Auburn, and LSU. Those are consistently top 25 teams. Then we have a team from the eastern division who rotates in every two years. Last year we had Florida and this coming year we have Georgia. So just in conference we are going to have to play Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and Georgia. Then to top it all off. If you can manage to beat all of those in one year then you get to play the winner of the East which is usually Florida, Georgia, or Tenn. in the conference championship game. Its almost impossible to go through the SEC undefeated (which is basically required to go to the NC game) because there are so many good teams in both divisions. Look at who Southern Cal gets to play. Washington, Washington St, Arizona, Arizona St., Stanford, Oregon St, and UCLA. See the difference? They can afford to schedule Notre Dame (who isn't that good just overrated) as an OOC game because they aren't playing anybody IN conference. Thats not the case for the SEC.

One more thing for the record. We scheduled Florida St next year so we are going to have to play LSU, Auburn, Tenn, Georgia, and Florida St not to mention Arkansas. THAT is a hard *** schedule. Bring USC down here and play THAT schedule and see how many NC's they produce.

Year in and year out the SEC produces the most top 20 ranked progams in the country. This is a fact that can not be argued. Peace.

I would like to see any SEC team play the 1st or second week out west or in the Midwest. They would get it handed to them.
I believe Boise State went undefeated this year. They are national champs in the eyes of many.

Sounds like a hater to me. First, more schools in the SEC are usually ranked year over year than any other conference. Second, what great schools outside of their conference did Ohio State play and beat? Third, Florida did that. They played the great Ohio State and DOMINATED!!!

There is no need to play out of conference games when you can get better competion from within your own league. And yes I totaly agree that the SEC Champion should be the National Champion. It would solve the whole BCS shitt.
