In a Theocracy, Christianity would be US LAW & in a Democracy liberals make up most of the laws like the pro abortion, pro Gay Marriage, pro immigrants, anti prayer, anti military, anti war, anti religion laws. A US Theocracy would make Conservatives the ruling class of America. A conservative like Bush would be gauranteed to run US Govt forever. It would be like heaven on Earth. A completly reborn America never to be touched by the Godless liberals ever again. No more Nancy Pelosi's forever! No more Hollywood, no more liberal media, no more illegal immigrants. How could any conservative in their right mind want a US democracy over a US Theocracy? Why do you need a democracy when in a Theocracy you will get everything that you've ever wanted out of US Govt. & more?

You have given the perfect example of why Neo-Conservatism is such a dangerous political point of view. It would not be heaven on earth, it would be hell.

Maybe a Theocratic republic based on our current constitution (amended, of course) but the problem with a Theocracy is, Bush is a Methodist and I am a Calvinist and reject Jacobus Arminius' heresy Wesley based his denomination off of.

So, there would be many problems between the sects and denominations in a US theocracy. In Iran, most everyone is Persian Shia, so there is more hegemony.

It would never work in this country, I take out imperfect democracy, Demoncrats and all over having my life controlled by a Methodist.

The trouble with free elections in a theocracy is that eventually there will be some rigging so that the regime could stay in power. (See Iran in 2009). A theocracy could face a lot of challenges when its own population has liberal tendencies to reform clerical rule. The clerical elites have no interest in reforming the system to accommodate the people but they'll pay lipservice to that idea and that will only buy time.

I will take our current Constitutional Republic over both.

In a Democracy all the voting on everything from a new toaster for the white house to war measures would tire me out. I don't want to have to head to the polls every morning to vote on dozens of measures and what not. I also am not afraid to say that I am too lazy to do the research on every single little part of what would be a good way to vote on each and every item. Not to mention all the lobbyist junk mail and telemarketing that would come along with a democracy. The gun control sides would be driving me nuts, "Look honey, the NRA sent us a gift basket hoping to sway our votes."

Conservatives would love an Authoritarian style rule. It is a scientific fact that the conservative mind is less educated then the Liberal mind. The reasoning is quite simple. Conservatives usually come from small towns, where the people have been living there for generations and have never ventured outside to see the world and basically learn. So Conservatives are normally more religious, as having not found many answers to questions.. they turn to God (just like in the old days). So yes.. Conservatives would like an Authoritarian Theocratic style of government, and I applaud all the conservatives to do so and get out of our Democratic/Republic countries and form a new country.. maybe a new Israel or something... cept you can call it the Christian promised land :)

Last time I check we are not a theocracy or even close and Christians were entitle to the same Freedom of Speech we all are or did I miss that memo.

It isn't all or none type of deal. Let the voters vote express their desires in the polls. When it doesn't go you way doesn't mean the world has come to an end.

So stop this stupid theocracy crap or are you in favor of changing the Bill of Rights to say "Christians are not allow to speak or have thier views heard"?

Speaking as a conservative Christian, I'll gladly keep the representative republic we have. Theocracy scares me and pure democracy is akin to communisim; nice idea but it doesn't work. Protection from this is why the Founding Fathers, God rest their souls, gave us the Constitution.

I see nothing of a conservative value in the present Religous, mainly the so called Born Agains or Left Behind groups political agenda and in fact look at it as an "ONGOING REVOLUTION" against the American constitution and form of government.

A form of government that has allowed those groups to become very rich while not allowing anyone to determine how or whom they worship.

It is a radical attempt to install a new form of government based not upon natural law or mans laws but some religious ideology that in and of itself will not allow any differing theological argumetns be put forth by differing opinions even within the overall Christian Diciplines.

It is Autocratic, allowing no deviation from ts theological beliefs.

It has no evidence in which to even present its ideas to support its superiority over any other form of governance and in fact of history can be pointed to as the least peacefull form of governments ever institutted and never has lasted longer than 70 years as a ruling form.

A ruling form that was written in the book they worshipfully hold aloft as HOLY, that was so hypocritical in its form that their own GOD chose to destroy it and then told them to await HIS coming to set in place his Kingdom.

Whats the matter getting impatient?

Trying to force HIS hand?

Read in the book what happens to those who do!

It does not base its rules upon scientific or actual living conditions but upon a utopian dream of a life of ease after death!

The main group of so called Christian Zionist, Politcal Pac claims to represent 45 million followers, followers who believe their capital is in Jerusalem not US and that in order for it to become a reality the US must kill or forcefully convert on punishment of death everyone on earth to their belief sytem.

Now what is so conservative about that?

I at least recognize that Left is concidered RADICAL to a true conservative and this group of Radicals, no matter how much they say GOD is on there side, are scarier than the friggin devil they claim the "PRESENT GOVERNMENT" represent.
