Mohammed married his last wife Ayisha when she was six years old, he consummated this when she was 9. he said he could do this because he was specially chosen by Allah.
Today the age of consent in Iran is 9 because of this, many Muslims follow Mohammed example and take underage girls (children) as wives.
In addition sexual abuse of young boys is widespread in Afghanistan and Pakistani (I only cite these because there is so much evidence and I don’t want to be accused of hearsay).
Why do we hear a deafening silence about this child abuse in Islam. We are quick (and rightly so) to condemn any Christian church which harbours this kind of child abuse. When are we going to start condemning thes practces in Islam.

prophet Muhammad is not a pedophilia..aisya was 9 when she had her periods.in Islam, women are consider as adult when she started her periods..same goes to men...
by the way, it was thousand years ago...on that time...there are no certain age limits to get married or consider you as adult..so,you're consider as adult when you reach puberty...
that's why in some countries the age for marrying is 9.this is not because they followed Muhammad...it is because of the average age of puberty...

Religion (and I'm talking about all religion) is a great excuse for people. I think it's brilliant to be a spiritual person, have a faith and believe in something, but most of the finer details of religion were made up by people not whoever or whatever 'created' us. Just look at all the wars that religion causes, surely that's not what a 'creator' would have wanted and when someone kills someone else how can they possibly say it's God's will or whatever when they are the person that decided to do it!? I don't know hey! I know this isn't directly answering your question but I've had a bit too much coffee and wanted to exercise my fingers.

You answered your own question. If they have it in their religion it won't be easy to give it up. There are other peoples that have this as well. For instance, the Rroma people (or gypsies, to make it clear), force their children to marry very young - at 10, 12 years of age. Sometimes the groom is much older than his bride. The reason for this, for what I know, is that if the girl is so young then she will surely be a virgin and the children she will bear will certainly belong to her husband.

Some religions and religious interpretations are SICK and while being with a child might have flown in the BC's or what not it does not now....but IRAN is the country about to execute a girl for defending herself against attackers by killing one!!!! AND Islam is the religion that asks a rape victim to produce FOUR witnesses and then KILLS her for bringing the shame of sex with a man other than her owner, I mean husband.

there are sick people all over the world. i mean on oprah ricky martin said some american men were going over tho where the tsunami was at and were getting babies and was having sex with them, if i ever knew someone who did, i would beat the **** out of them, and if it was my kid they did that too, i would kill them. this world needs some help, what would possess people to do that i dont know, and marrying a 6 years and consummating the marriage is sick too.

If you want to know what religion gets away with the most cases of paedophilia, you don't exactly need to look at Islam.
We need to look in our own back yard about incest, in our own churches for paedophilia, in our own marriages for wife beaters, and in our own homes for child abuse before poiting the finger elsewhere.
