I advertised my puppies on the internet for sale, I had some people that wanted them but I had to wait for the money got here then send the pup out. when I got the bankdraft it was for the pup and shipping plus western union charges. I was to cash it, go to western union send the bal. to the currior and pay w.u. charges out of it. It was drawn on a credit union, that didn't have bankdrafts and if I had cashed it I would have been out ALOT of money It would have had to come out of my account since it was not a real bankdraft So I want everyone who may be selling things on line to WATCH for this. also where do I go to report this for justice!!!!!!

Bank fraud is a matter for the FBI. However, unless these individuals have been doing it for a long time or for large dollar amounts they are unlikely to pursue further investigation.

My advice to you is to not accept bank drafts or personal checks for transactions online. Paypal, money order, or similar protect you because then you know they have funds available.

I've had this happen to me, and so I no longer accept personal checks for ANYTHING.

ebay forums are full of the warnings.

I've known of people who unknowingly cashed those bogus checks who went to jail for it. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

Every couple of weeks someone is on tv on the news having problems with Western Union, bank checks that were stolen by someone and used to pay for something they bought, credit card info and cards being stolen by something someone wrote, said, or applied for or by someone who employed them, and even problems with drivers licenses. The problem is growing so large that it's happening even in our own neighborhoods, and it's no fun anymore to sell/buy on the net unless it's from large reputable companies who know how to deal with this, have clout, and can deal with this in court.
