I'm really into the anime show Inu Yasha and in my other question, I asked about the TV show's end. Someone said that it's still being carried on through 'Manga' but I have no idea what that is.

It sounds like a comic strip or something from a newspaper. And if so - or not - where can I get it? Can I follow the story line on the internet?

Manga means comic. "Man" carried the meaning of something that is done at ease, the character for this word consisted of the radical for water (which means flowing, or indicate motion), and the character on the right for the Kanji "Man" is the word for slow. You combine the character for slow and the radical for water and you get the word "Man". Ga is Japanese for drawing (pronounced as "Hua" in chinese). So Manga (or, "Man Hua" in Chinese) would convey the meaning of art done at own pace, own time, loose doodling before producing a standard copy.

a Japanese graphic novel, typically intended for adults, characterized by highly stylized art. Sometimes confused with anime, manga is the Japanese word for comic book (or Graphic Novel, if you prefer) and is used in English to mean Japanese comic books. Manga and anime are very closely related, as artists frequently crossover, as do the characters they create. Usually the manga is created first, and if it becomes really popular then the market it deemed capable of supporting a much more costly animation based on it.

Manga is a Japanese graphic novel. They usually contain a couple chapters (almost an inch thick) and continue in a series. InuYasha is a very long series and I hear that the story does continue in the manga. Each book is around $10 and you can get it from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, anime websites such as www.discountanimedvd.com, etc. There is a lot of good manga out there. You can really get hooked!

"Manga", the Japanese equivalent of comic (as in comic strip or comic book).

Manga might be available in the form of:

- a strip in a newspaper

- a bonus in a magazine

- a regular article in a magazine

- a stand alone version in the form of magazine or book or mook (_m_agazine b_ook_)
