and why do poeple assume that they are vicious and dangerous? they eat meat yes, but so do we. there is an order to the world: things must kill to survive. i is my dream to work with wild wolves. to prove that they aren't evil and then to show the world it was wrong.i know it's impossible to change the way people think overnight but a challenge is always fun.

ok so generalising is wrong. but i mean why do lots of people. and for gods sake don't mention little kids stories! THEY NEVER HAPPENED OK? so get over it and give me fact. i'm still in school and i think that it's stupid we get taught about racial abuse to people but not about such abuse to animals. they like us have feelings. and they are just as intelligent as us but we are the stupid ones. we have forgotten how to speak they're language. they are clever.

Because they kill farmer's herds, and have a reputation for attacking people in the wild.

Funny how nature has a way of doing things. Its true that wolves keep the animal herds controlled. But, when it comes to wolves or coyotes and farm animals then thats where you draw the line. They cause alot of damage to livestock & therefore the rancher loses money. They need to be controlled as well as deer and elk so does that answer your question. You take about 1 dollar per pound of 600 lb feeder steers and there is 600 dollars in your pocket. If wolves get to the cows then there could be one or more deaths which could be catastrophic on the rancher & his livelyhood.

The hatred originates from that daft story book that claims a pack of wolves succoured and raised Romulus and Remus.
Romulus grew up to be the founder of Rome, which led to the Roman Empire.
The same Empire that persecuted Jews, Christians, etc and nailed their hero (so-called son of God - Ha!!) to a big wooden cross.
So their logic is that if it hadn't been for those damned wolves, none of the above would've happened and JC wouldn't have been executed. Consequently, wolves have historically been turned into a beast of Satan.
What tosh! But that's the Answer.

You want facts?
Wolves are less intelligent than us - Fact.
Wolves do not have the same kind of feelings that humans do. They do not feel love or compassion - Fact.
Wolves, when hungry, will invade farmers fields and eat livestock, which is why some people hate them - Fact.
Wolves are one of the few animals that will kill for fun - Fact.

People who hate wolves do so because they lack understanding of what wolves are about.
Wolves are very beautiful and extremely useful creatures. Many abusive and negligent parents could take lessons from a wolf pack.
You make some excellent points and you do understand about wolves. Well done!

Fear and ignorance, wolves do predate on livestock so ranchers had an economic reason for killing them. In the wild Wolves generally do not attack people, their instinct tells them to avoid us. There have been a few recorded attacks but they are very rare.

people saw them as a threat and tried to kill them. it is mainly peoples fault that wolves eat their livestock coz we destroy their habitat and their food supply for our own use so the wolves have to eat their cattle. you can blame humans for a lot of stuff really. and contrary to what some of the other people said wolves rarely attack humans and only when they are truly desperate. there are no recorded incidents where a healthy wolf attacked some one.
