What's your opinion of Jamaica as a vacation destination?

Its pretty good. I went there last February and we had a good time. I'd recommend it.

Im from jamaica and its a wonderful place. There is crime yes, but what country doesnt have crime? Just dont go to those areas.the tourist areas are lovely, we have 7 mile beaches, green grotto caves, dunns river falls and YS falls, Blue Mountain that u can hike, Black river safari, and dont forget to check out Milk River Bath (it looks like milk for real). its endless. people in jamaica get a little hype over the word tourist yes, but dont let it be that obvious, or if you have a jamaican friend to tour with, it wont be that bad. Its a lovely place and ive been living there for 13 years, only came back for school in the US, cant wait to go back!

I hated Jamaica - It's so hot and dirty. There's so much poverty and filth and then in the middle of this are swiss watch and diamond jewelry stores. It is also a dangerous place to wander around alone. This was not a good vacation destination for me. I prefer the outer Bahamas.

I was there for 1 day last year on a cruise.
I thought it was lovely and the people were warm and friendly.
Beware of the aggressive street vendors, as they rely on tourism money to make a living because they pay an absurd amount of taxes there, like 17% even on groceries !!

i hearits beautiful but with what i've learned from my jamaican friends is tha **** way too violent. A friend of mine had a wife who went back to jamaica to visit. She took a cab to her hotel when she got there and was robbed and killed as she got out of the cab. Always think of this.

I have been told that if you are american, they treat you really crappy there
