1.) NECESSARY PROBLEM...A mechanic looks for
your "problem"
2.) NEED..Looks for the urgency in need to fix the problem
3.) PRICE.. depends on that "need"
Most mechanics will always say they are over booked and have to fit you in.. where in fact, most are among the starving groups.

Not all mechanics are crooks ! If one tells you that your car needs something that's because it probably does , and if he doesn't tell you that it needs it - or says it will probably be okay without it and the thing breaks and leaves you sitting ,or worse yet causes an accident you can sue the mechanic or the shop.If you think you're getting ripped off get an other estimate -shop around. 1st thing to look for - whats wrong? 2nd thing - what caused it? 3rd thing - How do I fix it so it won't happen again?

Women. Because he can say that your car needs this or that and it's critical to do it now or it would be too late, mechanic will sound very important and most of the women are not that technical and won't know if he is full of it or your car really needs this repairs done.
I was there couple of times myself so now I take a male friend with me to the car dealer. ;)
