I would say most people get pictures similar to what they looked like, but better. Let's face it, most people hate something about themselves. Their Avatar will most likely reflect something close to them, but different in a better way (in their opinion).

None of the avatars are very ugly so i don't think anyone would be embarassed at having one that looks like them, mine is supposed to be me but there aren't enough eye and hair colours.

I try to make mine look like me except right now I have her as my idea of a new age angel. I'll change her back eventually though

no like mine doesnt look close to my face it's how my charcter is and a avatar can describe some one charcter !!!

Well I don't see a lot of FAT avatars....I don't think everyone is so svelte and attractive.
