How do I maintain it? I have clippers, but they're not short enough to keep the look I want.

Shave at night or just after work, and don't use shaving cream. If you go out at night and that's when you want your stubble, shave just after you get home.
Use a razor with just one blade, and don't get too close. (also, don't be afraid to use old razors with too much hair in them).
Also, consider shaving every other day.
Good side: it will keep most girls away (girls have cooties).
Negative side: it attracts the really desperate ones (they think you're easy because it looks like you slept in your car because you just broke up/ lost your job)

what about hair clippers? like use a number 2 or something? designer stubble is good but only if its neat and not grey!!!

I'm a woman and I hate stubble! Like the others say it just looks like you couldn't be bothered to shave. Save your money and buy some decent razors!

personally I don`t feel there is anything designer about stubble. It just looks like you haven`t found time for a shave. That is just a womans opinion. Maybe your local barber can help?

I like it while my boyfriend hasn't shaven for an afternoon or 2. can not stand it while he is going away for a pair of weeks and returns with a goatee or the commencing up of a beard. i do unlike clothier stubble..
