Picking fruit before it's ripe means you lose about 95% of their value as food. Most of the nutrients are synthesized after veraison and transported from the leaves to the fruit. So, if you want a bunch of sugar, pick them now.
Otherwise, cover the tree root area with hay and set up burlap around the trees so that you create an insulating air layer around the leaves. Some of the fruit will drop regardless, but it's not really healthiest anyway. The remaining fruit will get more of the nutrients since the tree knows how much it needs and will allocate it evenly among the remaining oranges.

What i have heard of, sounds rather radical, but it works. What you would do is, go out to the trees and hose down the oranges with water. What happens is, the water freezes around the oranges and creates a type of insulation, which will actually protect the fruit. Imagine it as a type of igloo, thats how the eskimos live in the ice. It really works, try it!

Yes - pick the oranges - or as many do in Arizona - cover the tree or put Christmas lights on it. The heat from the lights keeps the fruit from freezing.

How many trees do you have? If only a few, cover them in burlap and they should be fine.

No, knit little sweaters for all of them and advise them all to huddle to keep warm.
