I ask this question because, in the 60's and 70's you didn't need to look, act sexy and dress perfect to sell a billion records. Instead, the 70's showed real raw talent, outrageous outfits, and all you had to do to sell a billion records was be able to sing and entertain a crowd. So are we all being discriminated or judged on our appearance now when it comes to show biz and the entertainment industry? It seems so. What are some of your thoughts?

The promoters hire who they THINK the public wants. If we keep buying albums from the gorgeous people and not the regular people, then they'll keep thinking that way.

Good thing people are not doing that on American Idol, and they don't have to win first place in order to prove a point.

Look how great a job Jennifer Hudson is doing in Dreamgirls, and she was 8th place, I think. Reuben got first place, and he's a BIG guy. Okay, Carrie Underwood is absolutely gorgeous, but so is her voice, so she did NOT get it on looks alone. Clay got second place, and though I love him, he was no handsome hunk to many.

The people (US) have to let the producers know what we want! For a singer, I want a great voice and rhythm. I don't care what they look like. I might see them once or twice in concert, but I'll mostly be listening to them in my car or on the computer.

Low-cut dresses and tight pants do not make someone a better singer!

Yes, kids of today think everyone should look like Brittney Spears, Jewel, etc. I'd rather be me! I'm a real person, and if I wind up on a deserted island with them, I'll outlast each and every one of them! I have more to sustain me. LOL!

In the early days of Hollywood, dancers had meat on their bones, large thighs for dancing, and actors weren't too skinny either. Some of the biggest stars were... well... BIG! Look at W. C. Fields, for example. Oliver Hardy for another. Talent was what counted back then. Same went for singers. Ella Fitzgerald wasn't a skinny minnie. Neither was Fanny Brice (Funny Girl), though she was portrayed as a sorta slim woman by Barbra Streisand.

Singers are under pressure to look good. They have to. If they didn't they would lose out on record deals, well actully if they didn't keep themselves looking good they would be a singer at all!
