I had a LOT of caffine when I was pregnant with both of my children (2-3 cans per day) and they are perfectly healthy and were never effected by caffine. I don't think you can really put a limit on how many ounces per day to drink. Your body and your response to things change so much when you are pregnant, that you really just need to do what works for you. If you find you can't sleep or are overly anxious, then don't drink so much. I don't believe it will effect your teeth or your unborn childs teeth. A lot of women have dental problems when pregnant that never drink caffine. It is one of those wierd things that sometimes happen, not b/c of what you drink or eat. Good luck.

Lots of caffeine is bad during pregnancy if you drink it a lot. Try to only drink one soda every other day. Too much caffeine can even affect the baby's teeth when older or growth. But excellent choice of soda- dr. pepper!

Everything in moderation. The other thing you have to careful with any kind of soda is the amount of sugar you're taking in, which isn't very good for your young'un either. It would be better to try to switch to your favorite 100% fruit juice, which has naturally occurring sugars (easier to digest) and a healthy helping of vitamins--mix it with club soda if ya GOTTA have the fizz.
But again, that's just a more nutritionally sound option.
One a day probably won't kill (or even hurt much) either you or the kid.

caffine isnt the best thing for ur baby but its not going to kill it. just as long as your taking ur vitamins and eating healthy you and your baby will be fine. i have the same problem. when i 1st got preggo i dropped caffine for the 1st trimester, but after that i started drinking it again and cant stop its only dr pepper! i try to without it and ween myself from it bc i feel guilty (bc og the caffine) but my sideaffects are horrible! i get awful migranes and shake, fidgit, i just cant stay still. and i get super moody! (on top of all my other mood swings! :) ) soo.... like i said, unless something is wrong with the baby there is no need to deprive urself of that!

according to my doctor it is safe to consume 300mg of caffine a day which is equal to 2 cups of regular coffee. Most sodas contain between 40 and 60mg per 12oz can. So a can of soda a day is ok to drink. congrats on the pregnancy and good luck!

I drank caffeine with both of my pregnancies. Some people say that it will make for a hyper child. My sister swears that with her oldest, and youngest she didn't drink caffeine but she did with her middle child, and the middle child is the most hyper. Doctors tell you to avoid it because it's a stimulant. I would just try to limit the amount that you drink. I try to, but I don't do a very at it. I do not think that it actually like causes birth defects...caffeine is considered a drug to some people!! Good Luck.

My doctor told me up to 300g of caffeine a day won't affect the baby at all - that's about 2 cups of black coffee, so soda should be fine.
The real problem with soda is that the carbonation hampers the absorption of calcium, so make sure you are getting extra calcium in your diet to make up for it.
I think only 1 can a day is not harmful.

1 can a day is not bad for the baby. You're not supposed to have a lot of caffeine during pregnancy, but you are allowed SOME. Don't worry about it, if that's all you're drinking. It won't do any damage unless you start drinking a case a day...lol.

you can get caffine free dr. pepper at wal-mart, but i'm 23 weeks and i know it's "not good" but i drink soda all the time. i don't stress it. many women do a lot worse than drink caffine and they have healthy babies. but they do make caffine-free dr.pepper, like i said check wal-mart. good luck. congrats!!

Soda does not have alot of caffiene. My doc says 3 cups of coffee a day is fine, so you could 6-7 colas to be about the same.
