I am currently an engineer and am seeking change. The work is not as fun as it once was. I am seeking less stress and more balance. How can I determine what what I really want to do?

Cajun Police is absolutely right: You should do something you enjoy. You could try setting up an online business: Thanks to the web, it's possible to work from just about anywhere at any time you wish to.

I find that lots of people in this age range are learning to become an online entrepreneur. There is so many things one can do such as affiliate marketing, ebay, selling products from candles to truck parts. Potential is pretty much unlimited. It will take a bit of time to learn the ropes, but once done, it's done.

Pick a subject that you are interested in and start learning. This site has some interesting information that you can read then go from there.

Make a decision, stick to it and never give up.

I would recommend something laid back - without harsh deadlines. I recommend teaching, or failing that, why not try to become a reporter for your local paper. It can be fun but often it is very laid back. Or why not try to get on with an engineering magazine, you can still do what you once loved , and yet don't have to worry about most of the hassles of finishing a product.
