Breastfeeding!
Breastfeeding burns additional calories and helps you lose weight faster.
Remember, it took 9 mos to put the weight on, 9 mos to take it off is normal.

I have a 3 month old now and gained 38 pounds when I was pregnant. I have lost all but 7 pounds. I chose the South Beach Diet (can't do if breastfeeding). It was hard for the first 2 weeks, but it was well worth it! I get complimented all the time when I am out..."YOU just had a baby??" The diet is great because I was never hungry. However, it does take a little planning ahead, but if you are not a picky eater it is very easy. I would suggest getting the gold cookbook as well as the original South Beach Diet book and reading both of them before the baby is born...very interesting and great results!

Congratulations on the upcoming birth...I just had my baby last Thursday!
After you have the baby, are you going to breastfeed? If so, then you need to be careful of how you diet. If you breastfeed you need to get an additional 500 calories per day above your regular diet and you should eat foods that are rich in vitamins and nutrients. Also, if you do breastfeed, it will help your uterus to shrink down faster, and also burns calories. Wait at least until you are 6 weeks postpartum to start changing your diet. Your body will be going through a lot of changes so take it slow. As long as you eat healthy and exercise, there really isn't a need for a true "diet system"...just try and be active and eat healthy.
I gained 30 pounds with my last pregnancy and am only 6 days postpartum and I am breastfeeding...and I can already fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans. Breastfeeding does wonders for your body, but you have to take care of yourself.
If you are not going to breastfeed...still wait the 6 weeks to give your body a chance to heal and then the same rules apply....if you will only need to lose 20pounds, then you don't really need a diet sysytem...just lots of healthy food and exercise.
Good luck and congrats!

Honestly, you won't be as hungry once you have your baby. It really shocked me (not sure why, because it makes sense), but by how less I ate after I had my son. Just remember it took you all this time to put on the weight, so it should take some time to take it off. I lost 28lbs in the first two weeks after having my son- I had a c-section and had to be put under for it... and a week later, I got this metal taste in my mouth where it made every food I ate taste very very bad to the point I couldn't eat it... I had to force myself to eat a bowl of cereal each day which tasted just awful. Anyways, that helped me lose that weight, but it took me a couple more months to lose another 9lbs... and I still have another couple to lose. It's been 15 months since I had my son, so I'm pretty happy with losing almost all of it. It just takes some time. You just have to try to avoid fatty foods, don't eat as much as you did when you were pregnant, and try to find time to work out a few times a week. I even heard going up and down the stairs 10 times in a row will help! Stick with it, and you'll do just fine!

I lost 30 lbs in 3 months by working out for 30 minutes daily on treadmill, light weight training 3 times a week every other day, and using this free online weight loss website with a really great nutrition and fitness calorie tracker! http://www.sparkpeople.com
Good luck!

You could lose 20 lbs easily if you breastfeed. Plus you will be giving your baby the best! I breastfeed when I was at home, and pumped while I was at work and gave her the milk in a bottle.
I lost almost 40 by breastfeeding and doing weightwatchers on-line (They have a part for breastfeeding mothers) 9 months later I weigh less than before I got pregnant.
*Breastfeeding burns around 500 calories a day.*

The atkins diet works well, but it is very hard. It's also a quick fix. You lose weight very rapidly, however it is very easy to put it back on. Weight Watchers works really good if you stick with it and do it right.
