I tell you what...I think they will but I'm not sure about this year. Tejada and McCarthy lack experience but both will get an opportunity to get some this year. If they can get Mulder, and he stays healthy that could give them the division. They've got two guarantees in Milwood and Padilla going into the season, but beyond that there are question marks. Other than Tejada and MCCarthy, Loe and Koronka have not shown that they deserve to be part of a major league rotation. Their lineup looks tough at the top but it doesn't have too much depth to it. Mathews Jr., Carlos Lee, Mark DeRosa, and Rod Barajas, were tough guys to lose. They added Catalonatto and Lofton to shore up the top half of the lineup but Barajas and DeRosa added quality protection from the bottom half. The division is weaker and that is their best hope. Good luck to your Rangers and new manager Ron Washington next season!!!!!!

They have the offensive talent but the pitching has always been there weak spot.

This was a great year to go after free agent pitching and the Rangers did not act.

This is their rotation as of today. At best they match last year's recoord.
K. Millwood
R. Tejeda
V. Padilla
B. McCarthy
J. Koronka

The Rangers do play in the weakest of the American League divisions and could win the division. They have a nice core of players but their pitching IS not as good as at least three teams in the AL and those teams will eventually meet the rangers and beat them down pretty good. A couple more years and they will be sweet. GO RANGERS

It depends on if the Rangers can get another starting pitcher who has some experience. They lost a lot of good players to free agency, but have a good strong nucleus, and a new manager who seems to want to win now. I am optimistic about this season. I dont think the A's will be as good since they lost Zito (really would have liked to see him in Arlington!) and the Mariners are a joke, the Angels are going to be tough as normal. But the Rangers have a good shot at the playoffs.

At best if the West is riddled with key injuries the Rangers steal the division. Other than that they have very little to no chance due to lack of quality pitching in that rotation.

Why is a YAnkee fan talking about pitching in the first place and I would think a yankee would know about the Buck Showalter effect . Every year after he is fired the team he coached wins the World Series. Check it out.

They could... They have the position players I believe. Istill think they need probably one more starter. I think their bullpen has great potential. If they get off to a good start, maybe they will trade mid-season for a starter to put them over the top. They definitely have a chance to take the division.

I'm sorry, but I don't think they have the starting pitching to either take their division or compete for the Wild Card.

Padilla and McCarthy are steps in the right direction, but you don't have the pitching to pull it off.

Mediocre pitching will hurt them again this year. Good luck.
