A great meal doesn't have to be complicated. Try something simple. Roast chicken, maybe, and baked potatoes and salad. Buy a fancy dessert from a bakery and serve in candlelight. Decorate the table with rose petals for a special touch - a nice presentation can make a simple meal feel elegant.
For a roast chicken, simply take a whole thawed chicken, salt and pepper it inside and out, maybe put a spring of fresh rosemary inside, and put it in the oven for 1 hour at 375 along with the potatoes (make sure you wash the potatoes first and prick the skins with a fork to let out the steam). That's all! Save the juices to serve with the chicken and make sure you have butter and sour cream for the potatoes. Then just toss a salad and you're done!

Plan a simple menu, get simple recipes, and follow them to the letter.
Do this well ahead of time so you have time to research things you don't understand.
I'm not a good cook either, but you wouldn't believe some of the ambrosial dishes I've produced.
The first rule of thumb is to read the recipe through from start to finish BEFORE you start cooking. You'll run into things like "soak overnight" that will catch you off guard.
Also, you might be able to make just one main dish, and get everything else out of a can.
One more suggestion - check at the Food Network. Someone like Sandra Lee (Semi-homemade) takes intricate recipes and makes them simple.

Ask him about a meal he loves, then ask a friend how you can cook it,or search the way online, then try doing it 2,or 3 times before the Valentine’s day, if the result is good then cook it for him,if you didn’t like it,you shouldn’t do it yourself....
Of course,it is easier to order food, but, you know,if you cooked a meal yourself,it will be so romantic and will have another taste...
Good luck, and happy Valentine’s day to you both;-)

Go to the grocery store and find the boxed package of CAMPBELLS SUPPER BAKES , LEMON CHICKEN WITH HERB RICE.
Then buy a package of three or four chicken breats. There are very easy oven directions ( just 3 steps!) on the box. I've served this to guests, and no one suspected it was from a box. Easy and really good.
