I have a 7+ year-old veiltail Black Moor. I keep it's tank clean and vaccumed regularly. There is some sort of growth on his tail. About an inch from the base, right where the tail begins to fan out into its four different parts, there is a white "bubble." It seems to be made of some sort of membrane and be filled with water or air, and is about a centimeter in diameter. It pokes out the top a little bit, but hangs beneath his tail more. There's two little black dots on the bottom, almost like markings. It sprang up almost over night, and does not seem to be causing him any discomfort or hampering his movement.

Has anyone heard of this before? I put fungus treatment in his water, just in case, but it is not fuzzy like fungus at all. I know it is not ich or finrot. Please help! I will appreciate any real answers.

Sounds like a infection. Like maybe he was rubbing in the rocks and pulled a scale off. Thoses can get infected and blow up like that, I would get bacterial solution and try that.

I have had fish with this before and I was told by a pro that it is viral, kind of like herpes. I don't think it will kill him, don't mess with it.
