It's just common courtesy for their patronage . You may not get rich, but you are employed-be grateful.:)

Is it about you being rich? no. It's for giving you a reason to be there. More to the point.. it's for your boss to have a reason for you to be there.

with no customers, you would have no job, and NO PAYCHECK.

Just thank your customers.. it takes so little. Be nice. After all.. Customers make your paychecks possible.

You are the primary contact person. Saying thank you will help to ensure that this customer returns. In turn if the customers are happy they will come back again and again.

Basically, its a small step towards job security.
