I think it is an ideal that is false in the real world. The people who love with the most intensity often use that relationship to fill somesort of personal inadeqauecy. They don't feel whole without the object of the desire, so they are willing to go great lengths to preserve the relationship. Personal weakness and low self-esteem are actually a good motivators for people to search for love. I've always found that the more you love and appreciate yourself the less you need love from other people.

That's true. And the person who said you merge into a inseperable entity in love, is describing a perverted kind of love. You love yourself, you love another, and you love the common life you have together, but you do not "lose youself" ... that is co-dependency, unhealthy and unfortunately all too common.

I believe it is entirely possible for people to love someone else without being all that thrilled with themselves.

In fact, I tend to think the truest type of love (as when it comes to the love a mature, well adjusted, mother has for her children) is never about whether people loves themselves or not; and it always only about how much they love the other person.

False...I wouldn't say I truly love myself but I have loved someone.

How will you know what you really want if you don't love yourself first. Most guys will not even want to be with a girl who doesn't love herself. Wait, I take that back. Guys really DO want to be with those girls, but only for one night stands and Girls Gone Wild videos.

True & false. When you really love as love can be, the loved one and yourself merge to form a single inseparable entity - so who's who?

I would replace the word "Truly" with the word Properly. There is a HUGE difference!
