A lot of music shops sell karaoke discs with just the backing track playing and sometimes some of the backing vocals on - I love them I have got a karaoke machine where the lyrics come up on the screen too - great fun!!

I hope you find the songs you are looking for - enjoy!!

If it is just the music it is called a backing track, these are what professional singers on the pub and club circuit sometimes use.

You might be better of with karaoke tracks (CDG) meaning compact disc+graphics. Karaoke tracks are essentailly the same as backing tracks except the words come up on a screen as well provided they are used in a karaoke player. They can also be used in an ordinairy CD player like backing tracks but obviously the words won't come up on a screen.

Log on to singtotheworld.com On this site you can choose whatever tracks you like and have them put on one CDG so this is better than buying a ready made disc where you might not like all of the tracks. It only costs about £1.75 per track and takes a couple of days to arrive by post.

You can also subscribe to online karaoke on this site which means you will have access to thousands of songs with the words on your computor, very useful for learning songs and finding out which tracks you might want to purchase. The online karaoke cost £6 per month, very reasonable and very useful if you want to learn to sing and build up a large repertoire.

There is a sneaky electronic way if you or one of your mates is up to it. You have to phase invert (180°) the left channel and mix it with the right to produce a mono vocal reduced version of anything.

search a p2p filesharing program (such as limewire/ares) using the word "instrumental". It will bring up a list of songs with the backing tracks only, and you can choose whichever one you like to sing to.
