yes you are protected from day 1 you start taking the pill which is on the first day of your period! you will not become pregnant as it will stop you from producing an egg that month. i am taking this pill and have been to the docs with the same question. you dont need any other protection from when you take that 1st pill, you are protected at once xX

I always thought you needed to be on the combined pill for a week before it was effective, and the mini pill gave you protection from day one, but then it is a few years since I took them. If it says you are protected from the first day I would go with that, the instructions are seldom wrong!!

Call your doctor and ask them, your doctor knows best and each pill is different. I was advised for my pills which are low-dose or whatever, that I had to be taking them for a week and it also depended on how I started them.

I think waiting a whole month just makes sure that you atleast have that entire pack of pills in your system, but I was told a week from my OB.

you are suposed to wait one month... maybe you misunderstood the pamphlet? the reason why one month is so the hormones will already be regulated into your body. call your obgyn or doctor to make sure. that is what my gyno told me and what i have read in health books but you hs oudl use condoms no matter waht since the pill is not 100% effective. and doesnt protect from stds

Quite a few pill babies in this world. Wait at least 48 hrs. and be sure that the instructions are valid.
