I'm 35 and with a busy life, working full-time, practising music, and writing novels, I need all the help I can get. If I write a note on paper, I forget where I put it or lose it.
I write a note (usually an initial as a mneumonic device) on the place between my thumb and index finger on the back of my left hand. Left hand because I'm right-handed to write it, back of my hand and in that position because I drive 2 hours a day and when I'm driving, it is always there in "10 o'clock" position. Pretty well-thought out for someone who can't remember things, eh? : )
I do this as needed, probably once every couple of weeks. I use a sharpie (as a graphic artist, they're always handy) or whatever is close. When I shower at night, I scrub it off with a washcloth. It comes off although the sharpie is "permanent."

Very rarely will I write a note/reminder on my hand. When I do it is normally out of urgency, and it is normally numeric. I have a very good memory except for numbers which quite often I will transpose if not written down immediately. (They end up on my left palm, never the back hand.
I normally utilize this method with regular ball point pen ink. The ink will not say there very long, but normally several hours, which is normally long enough.
Yes this method is very helpful.

I do it all the time & it is very helpful. I find that if I write something down in a note, I lose the note. If it's on my hand it's safe because I don't think I'm going to be losing my hand. :) I have also written reminders on my legs as well. Maybe that's weird, but no one could see it & it was there when I needed it! The ink usually stays through one or two washes. Three at most.

Yep. I'm 43 and have been writing notes on the back of my hand for as long as I can remember. As others have noted -- I'm not as likely to misplace my hand as I am a note. I have no intention of stopping it either. It is the best device I have come up with to remember the things I have to.
In fact, right now I have a note on my hand reminding me to pick my daughter up at school this afternoon. (As opposed to at the bus stop.)

No, I don't, but my teenage daughter does - and I hate it !! Absolutely no logical reason except that my mother always told me when I was a child that only grocers and butchers did that ! Which begs the question - what on earth did she have against grocers and butchers ? No idea, but it's an example of something taught in childhood which lingers, regardless of how illogical ! Anyway, I go on at my daughter when she does it - crazy !
