No, it is not scary at all. It's the live ones you need to worry about, not the dead ones!

My sister completed her associate in mortuary science and worked for a little while in some funeral homes. We have friends who own a funeral home as well. You will find most people in the mortuary business are their because it is a family business, though in many large cities that is changing.
My sister never found it to be scary or morose in any manner. It is a service for the family of the deceased. Along with the mortuary work, in most funeral homes, you are also a grief conselor. The role of the mortician is to comfort the family and friends of the deceased and give the deceased a formal and final farewell.
There are some times when the work would get to my sister and our friends, but mostly that was funerals for children. Mostly morticians see their work as a service of comfort and not a focus on mortality.

hi bill, let me enlighten you a tad. at the starting up my mom died almost one 12 months in the past. We had her embalmed then she changed into positioned in a coffin, which changed into then positioned in a concrete encased metal vault. i somewhat do not imagine that anybody has to rigidity about the earth being polluted because of the range of protection we chosen for my mom. So, you could relax uncomplicated understanding that a minimum of one lifeless human being's relatives took care to be "environmentally" ideal contained in the disposal of our embalmed loved ones continues to be. :-)

don't think scary but after a while it has to get to you; can't numb yourself forever; has to bring your own mortality into the picture; I couldn't do probate work b/c I found it too morbid sifting through people's lives , belongings ; I found it too sad on a day to day basis and now I won't do it anymore ; my heart isn't in it ; but some people don't have any problem with it

I think if I ran my own place or whatever it wouldn't be that bad. None of your clients could give you any mess. However it leaves the door too wide open for devastating and cruel practical jokes.

What's to be scared of, it's not like they can harm or kill you!! Although it would be creepy to a certain degree.
