in the 70s we were told that the contaminants in the atmosphere was going to put us into another ice age,because we were blocking the suns rays from hitting the earth right, so we had to clean up the atmosphere?? what happened did we clean it up to much and now we have to much sun hitting the earth???

No it is just a graphic illustration of how very short our society's memory really is and of how little these so called experts really know about earth science. The fact is that you can find just as many scientists who refute the global warming theory as you can whom espouse it.

Here in eastern Texas we have had the coldest winter in over a decade. Parts of the Northwest have seen the same. I do not doubt the atmosphere MAY be warming slightly, but just because you haven't got any snow in New York is no proof for global warming. in 1906 there was little to no measurable snowfall from North Carolina to Connecticut, Temps soared into the 80's up and down the eastern seaboard, and glaciers in the North Atlantic melted in record numbers. Global warming must have been bad in 1906?

there are so many factors that control the earths temperature that its hard to point to just one thing. alot of the stuff involves whats happening on the sun. just because in the last few decades the temperature has been rising, thats like milliseconds in geologic time and you cant take an effective measurement of what is really happening. its all a bunch of hype (although not unnecessarily a bad thing, there certainly is a need to clean up the environment).

The truth of the matter is, global cooling didnt scare anyone. it was just too boggling to think that the earth could freeze over. so they changed strategy to the opposite end. If they made the earth sound like we were plunging into the fires of hell, then thats much more frightening and effective.

If you want to use this as an excuse to deny global warming, when it is a quantifiable FACT that it is occuring (for whatever the reson) go ahead. Just hope you don't live in a coastal area that will be flloded when ocean levels rise, and get your home rebuilt to withstand stronger storms. Also, take steps to avoid the tropical diseases that are moving north.

It isn't the 70's. Go with the latest reasearch, not convenient old speculations.
