I say it's following the groups' decision, or just being young and still deciding on their opinions.

I am thinking you do not know too many children or have never been a parent. Or.. you were never a child yourself? Every human has a mind of its own, it is up to the parents to encourage and nourish it to grow. Every time you see a toddler having a fit, he is showing he has a mind of his own, even if it might be for something misguided like the right to run into traffic. But as they age, there is a strong urge to conform, to be "different" from the generation that went before them. It helps them form a generational identity that will carry them through life. This changes with each individual as they continue to mature to adulthood. Hopefully, if their nurturing was good, they will still have a mind of their own by the time the educational system and media are done with them!

WE DO!!!!! In fact, when my parents were going through a divorce, my brother, mother and I had a little joke. We thought it was actually rather amusing that my dad would try to force us to do his will...as if we didn't have minds of our own. Furthermore, when we tried to tell him our views, he would immediately dismiss us as repeating what our mother had said...which was NOT true! Now, my father has given up his parental rights, and he hasn't called us. Even more, we haven't called him...because he alienated HIMSELF against us!
I would strongly suggest that you think long and hard about what you just asked...unless you want to turn out like my father.

They do.
It's just in a constant state of transition. Absorbing everything good and bad, top that off with hormones, acne, and social pressures and you wonder "how do they manage"
I don't blame TV, just the person who pays for the electricity and the cable bills.
