Like and love are actually different. Love being feelings while is used for example u like something or someone not because u have feelings for that person, but is due to actions taken by that person.

Because love is so much stronger than like. Like is a conditional emotion but love is unconditional. I'm going to love someone whether they make me mad, disappoint me, or make me cry. Love means you will be there for the person no matter what. Like mean you will be ther for that person when it's convenient for you.

Love is meant to be stronger statement that implies even if they act badly that you'll be there for them no matter what.

Sometime you love your best friend or friends but usually if a friend screws you over they're not your friend anymore and there's not a long grieving period over it.

Maybe you are projecting your world onto everyone else? I happen to say both to people I love and like. They don't mean the same though.

Well maybe I'm strange but I say 'I like you' to some of the people I like.
Anyway though sometimes you can love somebody but not actually like them.

For me

When I like something or someone I can do with out it/them

When I love someone it would be very hard to do with out them

Hence I love my kids/grand kids

I like my coworkers
