You need a visa for India for definite, I think you still need one for Egypt, not sure aboutSL. I would look up their local embassies using an internet search, and that should answer your questions, including links to sites about what jabs you need.

You need a visa for India - it is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. It took only an hour to get one at the India High Commission in London (about £30) but I'd allow a week, wherever you are. you may be able to send it off by post for a visa - check the website of your local Indian Embassy. You will need visas also for Eygpt and Sri Lanka - if you can locate their embassies closest to you they will have websites providing information on the visas, how long they take to get, and how much they cost. beware of embassy opening hours - they are often only open for a few hours in the mornings, and you may want ot get there early if they are busy!
India is a great place if you go with the flow - but it is full of chaos and madness too! Personally, i would advise you to avoid the big cities like Mumbai and travel around. If you have a month you could see a few places or just really explore one area - for this I'd suggest either Kerala in the South (backwater cruises, animal parks, tea plantations, beaches) or Rajasthan which is west of Delhi (old forts, temples, blue city, many breathtaking cities, murals on buildings, tiger park). Make sure you bring smiles, patience and toilet paper!

I'm living in Egypt. To visit, you do need a visa, which you can buy at the airport. For three months it was 60 LE, which is the first visa we bought, but I have no idea the other rates. 60 LE is about 10 USD, so don't worry about the price of your visa.
When are you going? If in the winter, or between late November to March, sweaters and jackets are enough to keep you warm. Always wear long pants in non-tourist areas because Egyptians highly value modesty. I think you are a girl, and if you are, don't wear tight or revealing clothing either.
Where are you going in Egypt? If you go to Cairo, visit the old mosques and churches in the old parts of the city, the pyramids and sphynx in Giza, old marketplaces like Khan Al-Khalili, and the National Museum in the center of Cairo. Other places to visit in Egypt are Sharm El-Sheikh (very touristy), Luxor which is full of ruins and the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Ein Sukhna, Al Fayoum (good for a day's excursion) and so on... the list goes on.
Transportation: metro or cabs. Metro is 1 LE from any station in Cairo to any other station in Cairo, and cabs are "bargainable." Whichever you feel most comfortable in.
Unlike many stereotypes, Egyptian people are mostly great people and very friendly. Don't be afraid of them! Just be modest and friendly and don't try to look extremely foreignly weird ;) joking.

You definitely need a visa for india - contact the indian embassy. If you go to there office with your passport you can get the visa label in your passport on the same day.
You will also need a visa for sri lanka, but not sure if you can apply in person like withthe indian visa.
You can get a visa on arrival in egypt. Depending where abouts in egypt you are going (cairo area, red sea resorts) depends on the visa type you need to get. But you are best changing some pounds into u.s dollars before you go as visas cost around £7-£10, depending on the airport you fly into.

Your travel agent should advise you on visas and can quite often do them in the office with just your passport. Hope you have fun, they're all countries on my to visit list but my list is miles long.

India: try Kerala (ideal panorama, outstanding sea coast), Goa (marvellous seashores, portuguese historic previous, good sea-food) Simla (hill-station, because you're going there in summer season, u can do with cool climate!), Jaipur (historic places), Mumbai (Glimpses of cutting-edge India and Rural India jointly).
