I'd have to say yes in the sense of federalism...fascism very much promotes the government over the individual. Modern day democrats claim to promote the rights of the individual over the government, but support their claims by providing government programs to serve the needs of an individual--which means that the individual still becomes holden to the government for its 'services', and therefore continues to put the government ahead of the individual.
Current Republican theory (with exceptions, yes) favors the right of the individual to make his own choices in business, education, property ownership, etc with minimal meddling from the government.
It always strikes me as strange that the most adamant leftists who are suspicious of the government are the first to line up to vote in Democrats to expand government 'services' ("I'm from the government and I'm here to help"), thereby limiting their choices on the free market.
Fascism does take it a step further by saying that all individuals must AGREE with the government, but there are definitely some similarities there.

I think they are more on the Socialism side of the fence myself but there is a strong argument for both Socialism and Fascism. One thing I can say for sure is that they are way far out of touch with the average citizen and were only able to get elected by playing on peoples fears, pandering and outright lying to the people of this great country all of this with the help of their willing accomplices in the media.

Bad definition of Fascism. Fascism is a philosophy of the extreme RIGHT, one based on Nationalism, Militarism, Corporatism, and Moralism. It hates Liberals and Liberalism. It's the Republican Party that has a strong resemblance to Fascism.

In many ways YES, This is not hard to comprehend once you understand that in reality Fascism is a left wing movement. It favors government over the individual. The references to Fascism as right wing only come from Stalin & the communists who were even farther to the left than the Fascists

Well, according to wikipedia....
Fascism is a political ideology and mass movement that seeks to place the nation, defined in exclusive biological, cultural, and/or historical terms, above all other sources of loyalty, and to create a mobilized national community.[1] Many different characteristics are attributed to fascism by different scholars, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, authoritarianism, militarism, corporatism, anti-liberalism, and anti-communism. For further elaboration, please refer to fascism and ideology.
So under the integral parts areas, it would seem that the neo-con way of governing is closer to fascism-- but that is an extreme view in either case. The US is nowhere near fascism.
nationalism-- we need to spread democracy and US is the cop to the world
authoritarianism - the bush admin is very authoritarian. Just look at major policies-> gay marriage, abortion, anti-terrorist/spying, etc.
militarism - speaks for itself-- we're in two wars and have been involved in other conflicts. cons are very militaristic.
corporatism - also speaks for itself. conservative ideology if very pro-business and corporatist.
anti-liberalism - also speaks for itself.
anti-communism - I think we're all anti-communist.

If you want to comare the Democratic party to a "bad guy" group, try Socialists or Communists. The Republicans lean towards Facism, with their fear tactics, profiling, spying on citizens, and suspension of rights.
